If we get embarrassed in New York this Sunday, Jerry's tune will change in a hurry. He can do all of the talking from here on out and we will never know the wiser. But, I can say that he wants that Giant game badly and a convincing loss will produce steam coming from his ears.

Losing to the Giants who were 0-6 and letting them back in a potential 1st place tie...........JJ will not be happy.

I’m quite certain some players were saying exactly that about JJ as we finished dead last in the division, just as some will privately say so about JG

When some players lose, they look to blame outward. Others look inward. Happens to every coach that was involved in a losing team.

Players aren't going to start doubting a coach who had the success Jimmy had at the U after only one real bad season in which he had to clean house and start practically from scratch. Players start doubting a coach who costs them games every season due to poor game management and can't get them over 500. Jimmy's teams started progressing the year after he took over while Garrett's teams keep spinning their wheels at 500 every season.

Jerry can say what he wants, but I really dont see how he can bring Garrett back if we lose to New York, Chicago, Green Bay, ect.......

A meaningless week 17 game at home against the Eagles would get Garrett fired................I just dont see how it doesnt.

Nonsense.

You get 60 individuals on a team that just went 1-15, and you will have some significant doubts percolating in the locker room. It’s human nature.

The difference between Wade and Jason is...

Wade was the "stop gap" to allow Jason some time to adjust. JJ was itching to pull the trigger to put Red Ginger in as HC. That is why every pick during Wade's tenure, every move, was catered towards JG in reality.

JG is JJ ticket to glory, i.e. "I did it my way, without JJ...."

Hopefully, JJ sees the light, but I don't think so, otherwise JG would have been fired long ago. JJ did not afford Brian Stweart any time to adjust under Wade and learn to be a better DC. He ordered Wade to drop him.

Please don't compare the culture surrounding Jimmy with the culture surrounding Jason Garrett..

Free agency alone tells you the difference between then and now. Whe you built a team back then, you were ON TOP for a while, precisely because the talent would stay and their was less freedom. Nowadays, football players are like mercenaries in many cases. JG doesn't have any excuses. Cut the ridiculous comparisons....

Probably, but I'd say a majority of those 60 players were not on the roster in 1990...Jimmy had players coming and going in those days...even from week to week.

The Cowboys improved to 7-9 the very next season under Jimmy. Jimmy took over a Cowboys team in 89 that was coming off the worst record in the NFL. To get better he had to start from scratch with 2 rookie QB's and a roster full of young inexperienced players. He lost his starting QB Aikman for several games in 89 and traded his best player during the season. It was clear Jimmy was planning for the future. He also lost his 2 starting WR's to injury during the 89 season. Anyone could see why that team finished 1-15. Garrett was handed a hundred times better situation than Jimmy and the team has gotten worse since his first full season in 2011.

The defense has gotten worse every year it's become embarrassing and now the offense is sputtering despite having one of the most productive QB's in the league. The Cowboys have shown no progress under Garrett in 3 seasons it's like groundhog day every season with this team. The players have a damn good reason to doubt Garrett who still hasn't figured out when to use his time outs. Jerry is going to make sure the Cowboys are a complete wreck before he dumps Garrett.

Uh you would't have significant doubts abou JJ if you were on Jimmy Johnson's 1-15 team, you know why? Because the year before, you were 3-13 nd had essentially the same roster..

I doubt Jerry is lying. He in no way had to make such a commitment to the coach given the question. He could have easily given a general answer like "we will evaluate all coaches at the end of the year" or something to that effect. I could see things changing if things go 0-6 or something but beyond that I think the message is clear.

I'm one of the few who remaining who doesn't blame Garrett for this mess so it doesn't bother me. I just wish the GM didn't have such assurances.

7 years in the JG experiment and people are comparing the Jimmy Johnson first year situation to his to excuse JG for his incompetence... unbelievable... Have some respect for our legendary coach...

Chuck Norris says "Hi" to those that mention Jason Garrett in the same sentence as Jimmy Johnson...

You mean Jerry's teams. We all know who runs the show.

How much more mediocrity does the gm have to demonstrate before you people stop crying for him to rescue you from the head coach?

we know he isn't going anywhere and given we allegedly have good players on the team, then he has done his job and the coach is not getting it done
