not much more as long as you are willing to admit that the hiring of said HC was part of the mediocrity

We just don't agree with each other on that one. Bill Parcells is in the hall of fame. Cowboys were still mediocre under him (34-30 over four years). I think our best long term hope is Garrett. I think he has a way of working with/around Jones in a way that gives us the best chance of overcoming Jones. That's my opinion.

So is Jerry bad or not?

He hired Garrett.

Or do you selectively choose what to judge him for?

Seriously? lol. So if someone is bad at something that means they bat .1000 on bad decisions? EVERY decision they make is bad? Or is it true to say, that even though they make some good decisions, they make enough bad ones that their total body of work turns out below standard? I want your answer on this. Do you really believe... here is my question... that if someone isn't good at something it means that 100% of their decisions are poor ones?

Lets just hire Baylor's head coach. He's got a nice country accent and some personality. Thats good enough for me.

See, you made my point. Jones said he would be back, REGARDLESS. You say he won't be. So its 14 pages (now) of either believing what he said (with joy or with angst) or ignoring what he said and inserting one's own thoughts.

I said he'd be gone if Dallas fishes 6-10. Is there anyone who doesn't think he would be fired if they finished that bad?

While I actually want Garrett to stay to give us some consistency in the coaching position, what I don't like is the guarantee. JG has to have some kinda pressure on him, but for some reason JJ doesn't seem to realize that pressure actually can make someone perform better.

Guess since he has no pressure on himself to keep his job, Jerry doesn't see the reason to put any pressure on any of his coaches or players.

I got some pressure for both Jones and Garrett.

The fans have to boycott the games.

The only thing these guys listen to us the money.

Dip into their pockets and don't go to the games.

Once the fans go..the coach is sure to follow.

How many folks renewed their season tickets after this news broke yesterday?

I have been worrying about you young man. How is your mental and emotional state after these announcements? As soon as I read where Jerry said JG would be back next year...I immediately thought of you and was hoping you did not live near any bridges!

Jerry jones said Jason Garrett will return as coach next year. How they finish will not impact that. guaranteed Garrett's return in 2014.

Nice knowing you guys, Ive got some pills to go take.

I'm actually happy to hear this. Garrett has the attitude to win. Injuries and bad drafts have caught up to bite us, but we need some stability in Big D if we want to have a chance at winning. We've been .500 the past two seasons, and it looks like we're going to go 8-8 again.

Guess what? Every offseason we have a major coaching change, and we don't improve.

2010 -> 2011: Garrett becomes head coach. 8-8

2011 -> 2012: Callahan becomes (non play calling) OC. 8-8

2012 -> 2013: Monte Kiffin becomes DC. Callahan calls plays. 5-5

Let's get some stability and then we can find the real source of mediocrity in Dallas.

I think it's entirely possible Jerry feels Kiffin is likely to be canned in the offseason and doesn't want to make too many coaching changes all at once going into next year. Just a guess on my part. Jerry's difficult to read at best.

Keep buying those tickets and Jerry will keep giving you more of the same. 1 playoff win in 17 years and more coaches like Jason Garrett. it's your fault if you keep buying his tickets.

Agreed.

Fans need to stop going to the games.

A half empty stadium each Sunday will send the only message both owner and GM will understand.

That's *never* going to happen with the league's most popular franchise playing 500 football.

Romo has been the 2nd coming for Jerry. When he leaves, it will be interesting to see how popular the team is, especially if they start trending under .500. There will be little or no connection to the Super Bowl era, and Tony won't be around to save the OC or fill the seats.
