Twitter: Josh Brent likely to be suspended

given the backlash that Goodell got with the whole Ray Rice scenario, I think he is going to bring down the hammer on this suspension.

Jerry had a hunch this would happen.

I'm sorry, but, whatever happens, this whole thing looks like it's been orchestrated from start to finish between Brent's camp, the league, and the Cowboys.

Not really saying it's any big conspiracy or anything. I think the issue has huge PR implications for the league (not just the character thing, but Jerry Brown's mother's reaction goes right to the heart-strings of a major NFL target demographic). It just looks like something they all sat down on early and said 'ok, what's the best way to handle this from a legal/league/PR perspective,' and then they did that.

Little things: the abrupt retirement, the Cowboys getting him a job running forklift while he awaited trial, the way the Cowboys leaked that he'd return to the team before any ruling was made. How circumspect the unable-to-be-circumspect Jerry Jones has been since Brent was released from prison. Then the deliberate silence on the ruling through the dress rehearsal game. It just seems 'handled' to me.

That said, Brent's been working out at some expense at a private facility for the last several weeks. I think he thinks he's going to play some meaningful snaps this season, at least. I guess we'll find out, soon enough.

Suspension? You don't say. I wonder what for.:)

The Rams Little only got 5 games if I remember correctly after he,while driving drunk, killed a mother in another car. So, I guess five games is about right based on precedent. If so, the Denver fans will complain that Prater got 4 games and he didn't even kill anyone while Brent got 5 games and Rice only got 2 games for a KO.

I didn't see it as a conspiracy or anything... I just never saw it approached that way, hence I thought it was interesting.
good points
