Josh Freeman is the QB reality of the NFL

they need to sell tickets. they need to convince the players on the team, they want to win. trading AP would jeopardize both of those. Not happening.

AP isn't going to sell tickets if they keep on losing. And they will unless they get better. They won't do that with an aging running back taking up 14 million on their salary cap. I'm not saying the trade will be popular, but it will give that team a chance to rebuild.

The problem is that he was missing stationary, wide open guys. I was surprised that the OC didn't take advantage of NYG's blitzes with screens, draws, etc although, as Gruden mentioned, Josh did not audible at all. I think the league will get a better idea of his progression, or lack thereof, in the coming weeks.

True but there is no excuse for missing some wide open targets. Guy standing there wideopen and he puts it 4 feet above his head? I grant you it is a tough situation for him to walk into but there is no excuses for some of the passes he had time to throw with wideopen targets. I would expect a guy who is not a Pro to be able to complete those.

Either way, we still need to look at drafting a QB in the 1st or 2nd round soon. If we want a fairly seamless transition from Romo when he finally retires, we need a solid QB prospect that can learn on the bench.

I think my post was in agreement with you. Just saying that maybe the OC should've gave him a couple gimme's to get him in rhythm. Let AD help out as much as possible...screens, draws, etc. He was horrendous last night. Being in Tampa, I have never seen him look that bad even going back to his first couple of starts.

I don't know I think NY was challenging him to throw the ball down field not around the line of scrimmage. People talk about screens but they are not that hard to defend whe you have so many around the LOS and when they get picked there is nothing to stop the defender. NY just was not going to let AD do jack and giving him the ball more was not going to change it. Ony thing that would change it was Freeman being able to hit his targets down field.

This is the reality in the NFL. If your QB isn't really good, you don't have a shot.

Define "really good". Is Flacco really good? How about Eli Manning? Theres 3 of the last 5 Superbowl winners right there.

Exactly, you would think some fans think Romo is going to last forever. Gotta work on prospects the way SF, Seattle, and Greenbay did. All 3 of them have solid winning QB's too. Good QB's are hard to find but not Impossible to find. The Vikings KNEW Ponder was not the answer at QB.. what did they do about it? They are in trouble because of their own stupidity. We could be just like them if we don't prepare.

Romo is just as good or better than every quarterback in the NFL with the exception of P.Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Tom Brady. To be truthful Romo is playing at a higher level than Brady in 2013 but you would still have to put Brady a head of him..... Then the next tier of QB's is Rivers,Ryan,Romo,Roethisberger,Wilson and E. Manning (despite his poor play this season). You can rank those guys in basically any order but this year I would put Tony ahead of all of them with the exception of Rivers. So we have a top 6 or 7 QB in the league but certain fans bash the guy constantly. Those fans are not very knowledgeable about the game. Romo hasn't done anything but make this team better than it would have been with most QB's in recent years. The only QBs who could have had any success with the Dallas teams of 11' and 12' are mobile qbs who can make plays down the field while escaping a heavy pass rush (Rodger and Rothlisberger) while also showing no threat of a running game or play action. Even the great Peyton Manning couldn't have one any better than Romo with our offense the past 2 seasons because his lack of mobility. This season the O-line is pretty good and we have a running game that defense have to consider and Romo is playing the best football of his career. I feel really good about this offense not only for now but in the future as well. I see young talent basically at every position that will continue to get better which makes me believe this team can do some really good things in the next couple years. Tony Romo has been a terrific player for this franchise and will continue to be and I think it's time his "haters" give the guy credit because he will win us a championship within the next 3 seasons and once he does that he will be in the Hall of Fame, who would want to be the guy that bashed and hated on a Hall of Fame quarterback that played for their own team? Not a good look in my opinion, so get on the train now before it's too late.

LET'S GO COWBOYS!!!

Eli is really good, or at least he was in 2007 and 2011, especially in the playoffs. Flacco played out of his mind in the playoffs last year and had a really good Super Bowl. Flacco is not an elite QB in the NFL but he had an incredible run throughout the post season last year, if I'm not mistaken his statistics are among the best, if not the best post season in the history of the game. So while I agree with you Joe Flacco is not "really good" I agree with the post you replied to in a way because you're not going to win a Super Bowl without "really good" play from your QB. If that makes any sense...

unless you have a defense like the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs or the 2000 Baltimore Ravens

The guy had a 28 game span where he threw 52 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.

Not that hard to find times where he played well.

You have to be kidding me right? In today's QB friendly league, he has a career QB rating of 77.8

He's had ONE good year, in 2010. He has had SOME very good games. Over 4 years though it's a pretty underwhelming resume. And none of that "take away this game and take away that game." Josh Freeman is not a good quarterback.

I hope all of you guys who have been trying to run Romo out of town since he got here are watching MNF. This is the reality in the NFL. If your QB isn't really good, you don't have a shot. Do we really need to relive the Anthony Wright, Chutch, QCar, and Testaverde era for some of you guys to get a clue? Sure, he isn't Peyton Manning, but he is the only reason we ever have any glimmer of hope in games.

This is exactly the reason some of us are so frustrated at the last few years. Finding a QB in the NFL is about 75% of the battle. We have one, yet we still go 8-8.

Neither is better than Romo. I actually think Dalton is league average at best. He's a pretty significant weak link on a team that has superbowl talent on offense and defense.

sorry didn't see this before i responded to your first post....

Josh got paid and got fat and lazy. Showed up late to team activities and generally just forced his way out of Tampa.

No big mystery there.

But he has a lot of talent. So teams will try to rehabilitate him.
Same as we did with Marvin Austin.

Kind of the same but DT being brought in like that is a bit different than QB where he is thrust into the leadership role. Austin is only coming into be a part of a rotation not a leader on defense.
QB's that are headcases do not last long.

I agree but the problem was our O-line and running game, which seems to be much better through the first half of this season. I want to see how this years goes, I'm feeling pretty good so far.... our losses have come to Chiefs (by 1 point) which a Dunbar fumble, Dez dropped pass that would have been 50+ yards and Poor play by Romo and Murray could have turned that L to a W..... our second loss to SD was just a terrible 2nd half, but SD looks to be a very very tough team at home (ask colts fans) and the mighty Broncos by 3 points. So we have 2 losses to the best 2 teams in the league (record wise) by a total of 4 points and a loss to very good home team. I think this team will start to stack some more wins and end up 9-7 or 10-6 and win the division and based on the way we have played at home this year I like our chances against one of the NFC east wildcard teams. This could be the year we make some noise because we have filled some of the holes we so desperately needed too. But even more than that this is a young team with a lot of talent, so if we can make some noise this year and build up that D-line in the off season I can see us being a contender for the foreseeable future. I'm excited about it!

I think the whole country heard Greg Schiano laughing last night. Freeman played like a stinking pile of hot garbage. I thought for sure the players would revolt if the coach didn't switch QBs. Any sane coach would have pulled Freeman after the 1st quarter. The only reason to keep Ponder on the bench was if a trade is in the works and you don't want him to get injured.

Cowboys PS QB Tanney looked 3 times better than Freeman. I'm worried the Vikes might try to steal Tanney from the PS. Or the Rams. Or even the Eagles.

hes not better than Romo, matter of fact it's not even close yet bro

He's also not the second best young QB in the league.
VERY clear Luck is the best.
After that Wilson, Kaep, RG3, Dalton all in that mix.
Cam is somewhere in that area but he isn't at the top of the list.

no disagreement from me there.
just noting why he has interest.
