Josh Freeman is the QB reality of the NFL

He's also not the second best young QB in the league.
VERY clear Luck is the best.
After that Wilson, Kaep, RG3, Dalton all in that mix.
Cam is somewhere in that area but he isn't at the top of the list.

Luck,Wilson..... significant drop than 3rd is Cam,Dalton,Kaepernick, RGIII in that order

We can begin looking for a QB, but it is best to do it with players like Alex Tanney for now. You build a future quarterback a great offense and it will be easier for them to take over from Romo, and you don't waste any of Romo's time.

You continue to fix the offensive line, and you get a running back. Our receivers are all young. Witten and Austin are the only old guys on this offense outside of Romo (and waters of course). So the building blocks are already there.

no disagreement from me there.
just noting why he has interest.

Sure teams like Minn or Jacksonville do not have much of anything at QB this is how desperate Minn is. Freeman had a good season showing he has some skills but it is the 6 inches between the ears that is a problem and that problem is 10X greater when you are the QB who faces the media and is counted on by the organization. I guess I just have no faith what so ever in Freeman but understand why Minn gave him a 1 year deal. If I had to guess it will be his last in Minn.

I don't know I think NY was challenging him to throw the ball down field not around the line of scrimmage. People talk about screens but they are not that hard to defend whe you have so many around the LOS and when they get picked there is nothing to stop the defender. NY just was not going to let AD do jack and giving him the ball more was not going to change it. Ony thing that would change it was Freeman being able to hit his targets down field.

No doubt this is true. I just think his football mind was on overload processing the new plays, reading coverages, and making the right throw. The next few weeks will be a good barometer on where he is as their starter. Bucs fans are breathing a sigh of relief after that effort though.

I agree but I also do not think much of him to begin with. Even his own teammate did not vote him as team capt.

I hope all of you guys who have been trying to run Romo out of town since he got here are watching MNF. This is the reality in the NFL. If your QB isn't really good, you don't have a shot. Do we really need to relive the Anthony Wright, Chutch, QCar, and Testaverde era for some of you guys to get a clue? Sure, he isn't Peyton Manning, but he is the only reason we ever have any glimmer of hope in games.

You are correct about the QB failures of our past. One thing they all half in common, including Romo, they did squat for us come playoff time. Now no one kin deny Romo is thrilling to see play. The next step is for Tona to actually win his second playoff game. No bobbles. No thowing off one foot. No thowing into double and tripled coverage at the end of the game.
The NFL reality also includes Kaepernick, that Seattle QB, Manning, the Detroit QB, the Atlanta QB, the Miami QB and others who don't wilt in the last second. It started with a bobble in Seattle. It ended last year in Washington with an ill-conceived pass to a Commanders linebacker. That is OUR reality and some, er, many do not like it. I concur with them.

And by the way, those sad sack Cowboys QBs you mentioned were eventually run out of town. I wonder if any of them, including Quince and Testaverde or others who failed actually won more playoff games than Romo.

Freeman doesn't have Jason Garrett(former QB) as a head coach.

BIG DIFFERENCE!

That pick to Rolle, when the Vikings were on about the Giant 30 was jaw-dropping bad. There wasn't any Viking receiver around. Freeman just flung it down there.

I don't know what he heck Frazier was trying to prove letting him stay in the game.

Justifying his future firing,

You're right ... so let's NEVER take a chance on Romo's replacement, and wait until he can't play anymore. That worked with Troy.

There are good QB's out there ... Andy Dalton, Colin Kapernik, Russell Wilson ... who were available to use for a less than premium pick. Heck, these were Escobar picks.

Don't let fear jeopardize our future. Tony Romo has a few years left ... don't expect him to play forever.

In the end ... while Tony has racked up statistical awards, his playoff vault has a single win.

Actually, the Cowboy's team has has a single playoff win. But then again...never mind.

I found this gem on a Minneapolis newspaper forum...

"Freeman has never been an accurate passer now 51 career interceptions and climbing. But on the brighter side being a vikings fan is kind of like taking a hooker to a carnival. There are flashing lights, lots of people, you spend a lot of money and the only thing you go home with is a venereal disease."

Eli had a pic six that hit someone between the numbers but dropped. Had at least one other dropped iirc...giants shouldnt feel to great about that win.
Just a decent qb performance could have won that game for the vikes.

I guess I can't overcome him stealing computers and wanting to auction off his college services to the highest bidder. Add the attitude that he had at the media interviews after games last year makes me dislike him.

Lol. Are you serious right now?

Josh got paid and got fat and lazy. Showed up late to team activities and generally just forced his way out of Tampa.

No big mystery there.

But he has a lot of talent. So teams will try to rehabilitate him.
Same as we did with Marvin Austin.

I agree with the lazy part when he got paid. Maybe he did gain some weight. I know that if you look @ his playmaking in 2010 to now, it looks like 2 different QBs. The hunger isn't there anymore.

If I was a player on the Vikings I would have been livid at Freeman not being yanked.

I am not a coach but having played from the 4th grade through college I can see the reasoning.

If Freeman is going to be the man, then he has to be out there to take his licks and the team has to support him. Question is: How did Frazier come to the decision that Freeman is his man?

From the scuttlebutt on the Viking's forum, many point the finger at the GM, Speilman, who wanted Freeman.
