a lot of improving players lol ... we have an offense line with an average age of 25.. and already best in the league.. do you think they have hit there prime yet? you better just hope we don't draft Elliot..

Oh....I'm praying that Jurry is foolish enough to draft a RB that high! I'm praying!

That oline has come back to Earth without Callahan. And guess who's line suddenly got pretty darn good? Lol!

Norman won't see anything past his third year. There's no money left in his fourth and fifth years.

That's how all contacts work. Guarantees up front. Like everyone else, if he performs he'll be there.

Saying he won't be there means the team is actually planning on having dead money because his signing bonus will be spread over the life of the contract.

I'm saying that he won't be there if he under performs. The deal in essence is a three year deal. Not five years. Few players play out their full contract without a re-structure, trade or cut. The last two years are nothing but fluff yet people on this board are using the five year deal to calculate his age at the end of the deal. It's nonsense.

An yes, every team carries dead money into consecutive years.

Everyone makes mistakes.. your parents, for instance...

It was a "duh" moment on my part.
I guess we all have a mistake or four. It happens. Maybe you should not be so quick to respond and super avoidable "duh" moments would be avoidable or not.

Still allot of back and forth bickering about a guy who negotiated a heck of a deal with so so stats / history to back him up..Commander fans who are chiming in here on a Cowboys board almost seem like they are desperate to rationalize and justify this signing like it ain't nothing on the money side and like Josh Norman is this young stud of a CB .
Meanwhile us cowboy fans have to exaggerate how old he is or will be and chalk it up to a typical Snyder move and crazy money..

I see it as a big gamble ... Just as the Cowboys did with Brandon Carr a few years ago.. Carr was coming off of similar to better stats than Norman ... Was younger ... At first it seemed Carr did ok with 3 ints per year and 1 TD each year in 2012 and 2013 but fizzled after that

I personally don't understand when 7 or 8 TOTAL interceptions in 4 years with the bulk coming in contract years for both players became such a commodity and meant so much praise ...

I believe the Commanders will probably have similar luck with Norman ... And still feel they overpaid for the production they are getting ...
But I guess that is today's NFL

Maybe because ideally that's how long you would want the player to be there. The fewer times you have to go to free agency for a good player, the better off you are.

If often plays out that way but planning for it to do so 3 years ahead of time is just stupid.

you make some valid points about the skids and the gm they have now and the direction they are headed, but th OL point is idiotic. The cowboys had a 4.6 ypc in 2015 and the skids 3.7 almost a full yard less. even more impressive with no qb threat most of the year

Over the first 14 weeks of the season, Norman held DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, TY Hilton, Dez Bryant, and Julio Jones to a combined 9 receptions for 89 yards.

For the season, opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of 54.0 when throwing at Norman, the lowest rating allowed by all NFL corners

Keep drinking that Kool Aid

Bid deal! What did he do week 15 and 16!!

Ok. So that's very very good. It's fair to say he was the best. I still say Dez gets him. Has to keep his cool and he will. He's too big and strong. The ultimate competitor will remember how Norman got to him and embarrassed him on national tv.

I can't wait

Bad deal's a bad deal. Free agency is a bad deal.

It basically is. It is really, really rare that a top FA actually has enough of an impact to merit the salary. I think our secondary would hold up fairly well if we had a good pass rush. Which we don't...because half of our DL is too busy taking illegal substances...multiple times...during a time when the league makes it practically impossible to get busted for doing so. I still can't believe how selfish and lame these two jokers are.

Name the best corners in football and their ages and then when they got paid their big bucks.

Revis. 5 years, 70MM at age 29.

I am not saying the Cowboys should have spent that. They shouldn't have.

But no reason to crap on the Skins who had a need at CB and have cap space. They got better today.

Curious, did you like the Maxwell deal for Philly at the time.

Came back to earth?.. Lol we were 1st in run blocking, and 1st in pass protection and it wasn't even close.... Darren McFadden career was a joke before he came here.. Didn't start till the 5th game still ran for 1100 yards with a 4.6 ypc.. And you're praying we get Ezekiel Elliot?? You know what's awesome bout our line? Not even in its prime yet.. And McFadden did that without Romo playing qb so we face Alot of 8 man fronts

Difference is Revis has been top at his position for a long time, atleast top 3 every year.. But yeah the skins did improve there secondary.

I thought they overpaid for him. But they needed a CB in the worst way. But he isn't in the same class as Norman.

As bad as Maxwell was, he was still probably their best CB, which tells you how bad they were at CB.

This deal feels very similar to me. Both got paid from their production where they had a great supporting cast. It will be interesting to see how Norman does with a lesser front.

I can't argue with this. It's true that FA should be used very sparingly and we have in recent years. Scott McCloughan has been very frugal this far and he saw a guy that he thinks can help.

This GM has a history of negotiating good deals. Why do we think that this deal will be anything else?
