.....then thats where you LB fills the gap.
Exactly. I remember one particular play in the first half, which was highlighted during the national televised broadcast, when LVE ran to the wrong gap and by the time he realized the play was coming to his gap, it was too late. He ended playing a better 2nd half, but our LBs need to play better against the run.

Many of you are saying that so many of the Cowboys defenders were terrible.

And yet......

The Eagles offense was held to 268 yards of total offense, over a third less production than the 420 yards average of their previous five games.

Total passing yards were 132, well over half less production than their previous five games average yards of 296.

All three of their starting receivers had less catches than their season average as well as yardage. All three.

Their running game averaged 3.48 yards a carry.

Was it the defense's fault that the Eagles had three consecutive drives in the 2nd quarter that started in Cowboys territory?

These were very good Eagles WR's, We all knew this going in.

Matt, I've vehemently disagreed with you on various topics in the past, but you just smashed this one 480 ft. to dead center. The ONLY DT making plays on a somewhat consistent basis is OO...we're STILL waiting to see this dominance from Gallimore that he occasionally flashes. Bohanna was drafted to be a fat boy - why aren't they using him to his strength (2-gapping)?

DT has been a glaring weakness for years, and we really did nothing this offseason to improve. We drafted and waived a NT in the 5th round.

Osa is the bright spot, but really just bright compared to the weakness around him. Gallimore is the only one of them I expected anything more of. He was supposed to be out single average starter, and he's mediocre this year.

It's amazing the defense gets by as well as it does with such mediocre DT play.

I think I saw the same play you're referring to and thought the same. He's missed gaps a few times. And when we say he plays better, we're actually accepting lower LB play.
The Lamar Jackson run straight down the middle got Jaylon Smith giggles from this board a few years ago, but it was LVE clearly taking the wrong gap, leaving a gap big enough for a tractor trailer to go through. LVE doesn't have side to side speed, and it hurts and exposes him. LB should be on the wish list in the future.

Lewis basically missed some camp, a ton of reps and likely is just now getting into playing shape. It really set him back. I rather start Bland than him. The kid is ready.

Let's hope the rookie on the injured list out of LSU, Damone Clark, comes back to even close to what he was in college. I'm hoping that he's going to be a 5th round steal.

Don’t know if this has been posted already, but this is trash. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen Lewis get beat just in mirroring the receiver in motion. He’s instantly beat at the snap because he’s lagging behind.

No,

The issue is Joseph should be getting Lewis' reps.

And he's not.

I'm trying to tell you.

Joseph is a lot like Anthony Brown, but he's got too much hate to be CB right now.

He should be filling in for Lewis soon, though, because Kelvin Joseph is going to be better at anything Lewis can do.

If not Joseph, then Bland.
Joseph practices at outside CB.

Bland practices as the Nickel CB.

Joseph played when Diggs was out for a few snaps.

Bland played when Lewis missed a game.

It's common for coaches to want young players to focus on 1 position. I remember Wade Phillips talking about that with regards to Scandrick at the beginning of his career.

I can think of two things Lewis has done. Had a pick his rookie year in a blow out at Denver. Spied Alvin Kamara when we beat the Saints. He’s done literally nothing since his rookie season. Bench him for Bland

This is hilarious, because it's what I think of too, but why I like him lol. Sheesh. I've got to get over my blinders

These are option plays. If the CB moves out of that middle area then they get the ball to #11 in the middle instead of outside.

It requires watching game footage of the Eagles vs other teams to see what happens when the CB stays outside.

Obviously the Cowboys have to come up with a solution for this play because they'll see it again.

Parsons needed to commit to covering the WR and with the CB functioning as the help defender. Then if the QB keeps the CB is there to prevent a big gain.

The Rams have used a similar concept on offense in some games that I've reviewed.

I truly believe we would be better with KJ outside and Brown/Bland inside. Lewis is a slot corner that runs a 4.5...which should almost always be the fastest corner you have.
