"fireworks guy" was probably a grey market dealer with connections to import the stuff directly from China.

Clipped this from a Giants blog... Wouldn't you actually have to have a brain for this to work? -smh

I think you may well be right except for the last sentence. You can play with nine fingers and a prosthetic. He might even be a candidate for these advanced prosthetics that can be activated by brain waves (but that would require his having the self-discipline to do the excruciating work to “train” himself to make the use of the finger automatic when he decides to use his hand).

Auto-Finger Activate!

Well, I definitely wouldn't finger him as a Pro Bowler this year.

Why?

Can't quite put my finger on it.

I bet some Giants fans are certainly crossing their fingers though.

Me? I won't lift a finger for them.

I'll be here all night.

I gotta hand it to you, you blew that one out of the park.

All kidding aside, this is probably the 2nd worst finger he could have lost. His first being the thumb. Having that big gap is gonna make it tough for him to hold on even after the healing and the pain runs its course.

There isn't going to be a big gap. They performed a ray amputation which usually means they have also resected the adjacent metacarapal bone in addition to the whole finger. This is usually only done for very severe injuries as it tends to affect the strength of the hand quite a bit.

One reason they do ray amputations early instead of as a salvage procedure is if they need material to repair the thumb but we don't really see that in the description of the surgery.

Nevertheless, the fact they went to a ray amputation off the bat suggests a very bad injury to that part of the hand.

I was reading reading the Giants board, and they said he chose to have finger amputated because of faster recovery. If there was a chance to still keep his finger, then that was a dumb move on his part.

You clearly don't know much about the concept of karma.

If you are referring to the Buddhist or even strict definition of the word Karma it may not apply here; however, using it's colloquial meaning (when you do things with good/bad intent similar good/bad things tend to happen to you) then it is very much a relevant concept that would apply to this situation.

I am not one to revel in others misfortunes, but If you believe that Mara had a say in the timing of the Cowboy's vs. Giants games this year and believe he manipulated the games to avoid having to play against Hardy (and RoMac if he had an idea at the time he would be suspended) then this would be a perfect example of what you call Karma.

The Commish is re-writing NFL rule book right now, banning all fireworks in NY. Expect to see that reported in the next 24-48 hours.

Even in the *******ized version a player getting his fingers blown off just because someone's suspension lined up with an opponent is a pretty big stretch. Unless you think there is some karmic force who said,"Oh, Mara didn't want to face Hardy so let's blow off half of Jason Pierre Paul's hand. That will show Jon Mara who's boss."

And if that's the case the god of instant karma is kind of an *******.
