JPP is not a consistent player. And he is mentally weak. Outside of 1 great year, he was a non factor for us. Smart thing will be to let him go. Let's see what Reese or new GM will do.
mentally weak? he has been injured. he would be worth a look if he could stay healthy. i think midgets screwed him by allowing him to play before he was fully healthy, he ain't Romo.

JPP should only be looked at AFTER they sign their own (and why are the giants looking to let him go?)...to me, he is a filler guy that allows you to continue to pick BPA in the draft...we all know that the pass rush is anemic at times, and if this guy was in the rotation, it would make the DL a little better IMO...

so, to re-cap
1) sign our own targets first (the ones that you want to go to battle with)
2) determine WHY the giants are reportedly going to let him walk and use that in any potential contract discussions
3) if you are wanting to sign him, go to him with a melton-like deal....a show me cheap year with an option to keep him longer
4) if 2 and 3 above are fruitless, you laugh when seeing the Commanders paying too much for him

If the Giants keep JPP next year he will count $2.03 million against their cap. If they cut him the will count $1.35 million in dead money against their cap. That isn't much in savings to cut him.

in this day of the pass, he is absolutely NOT under rated. Pass rush is much more important then run stopping. Get used to it.

Yet you see what we can do with the run. AZ is built to stop the run. Most veterans will tell you they have to stop the run as well. Of course you must also create pressure. How many times has Spencer rushed this year vs his total number of snaps? His role has mostly been a SDE. How often has he played contain and how often has he dropped into coverage? You can use earlier years' data esp when Ware was here.

JPP is one of the most overrated players in the NFL. The last thing Dallas needs is to spend big dollars on him.

Just as a friendly reminder your sigs cannot be over 500x350 or a total of 100k.

It will largely depend on the market in the upcoming free agency/draft. Prove it 2 year deal with escalators for the 2nd year might be worth a look, but not at the expense of keeping dez and murray, if that can be done. I also agree with addressing corner first and foremost, unless they think they can find better in the draft.

urban legend about how often he went back in pass profession as regards how often Ware did. The differential was something like 10-15%. And how many times did Spencer get a sack when everyone was rushing the passeer and he only had to beat a single guy. Bottom line he was nowhere near as good a pass rusher as Ellis was (who he was supposed to replace)
