Ware's 2015 cap number was huge. In fact, some think cutting him when we did was to dodge that bullet.

So it's because we cut Ware that we could afford a JPP (and more).

Not that I'm a fan of us cutting Ware.

Yes let's sign an often injured enigmatic player.. Haven't we had enough of that over the years?

JPP is not a consistent player. And he is mentally weak. Outside of 1 great year, he was a non factor for us. Smart thing will be to let him go. Let's see what Reese or new GM will do.

Some team like the Bills, Titans, or the Commanders will give him stupid money

Truly, I'm surprised that every person who responded to this thread hasn't simply said he hasn't been good in about 3 years. Heck, even that year he was only good for a stretch of games.

Signing JPP for any kind of contract except for a very cheap one would be exactly the type of contract that everyone agrees Dallas should avoid. It would be the epitome of signing a name player who doesn't play very well.

Now, if you're talking a really cheap contract, well that is a different story... but someone will sign him for too much, I'm sure. I'm just glad that it won't be Dallas, who showed in letting Ware and Hatcher go that they finally get it.

Let Washington sign him... they love stuff like that. Hatcher, who played well as a 3-tech 43 DT, they move to 34 DE. I'm sure they'd love to sign a 43 DE and move him to ILB or something stupid.

He just hasn't been that good since 2011.

Take away his stellar 16.5 sack season, and his yearly sack totals look like: 4.5, 6.5, 2.0, 3.5 (through nine games this season).

You might be thinking of Jackie Smith, who played for the Cardinals in the late 70's and signed in Dallas. He dropped the easy TD pass from Staubach in the 78 Super Bowl loss to the Steelers.

You had to bring that up!

I think Spencer is getting quicker every game so I'd wait until the season is done before judging him. That last game he had a really good move to the outside and went right by his man. If Bortles didn't throw it away it would have been a sack.

I think Spencer may could be the most overrated Cowboy of all time

I seriously doubt JPP is likely to come cheaply enough to make acquiring him worth the risk. NY may be letting him go for a good reason. His production has declined and that's a primary consideration to avoid getting a player.

If JPP is all that, why would the Giants be willing to let him test the free agent waters? Especially with him being 25 years old. I would be very cautious. NFL teams don't usually let young pass rushers go.
