Not Julius. You must be talking about someone else. Emmitt had 2500 yards after two seasons and Dorsett had 2332 yards. Julius has 1812 yards.

Julius is what he is

An injury prone RB that can't be counted on to play 16 games. Shows some flashes of brilliance and disapears at times in games.

Our Oline/playcalling also sucks to muddy the waters.

I don't see how anyone can pass judgement on Julius until he gets some blocking.

No dispute on the injuries though. He gets hurt next year, it's time to look elsewhere.

That is a reasonable assessment. I don'e necessarily agree with it fully, but it has some merit. I didn't agree with the intial post saying something was wrong with him for not getting the yards needed in the final game to get to a 1000 for the season. That would not have been possible for most backs the way the line played in that game.

If he can't stay healthy then he shouldn't be our featured back, much less our franchise back. All his injuries suggest to me is that he can't take the pounding of a 16+ game schedule.

Are we going to blame the OL for his injuries too?

When will the excuses end for Julius?

You probably said the same thing about M. Irvin when he got hurt early in his career and you probably was screaming to get rid of Jimmy Smith since he was injury prone.

You can't lump the minority of hall of fame players with early injuries to every "injured player".....

So every injured player of "promise" will end up like Irvin? Gotcha

Actually that is incorrect. He has more yard than Tony and Emmitt at this point in his career. The games he missed last year and this year cost him in the post you made.

I think the key word here is production.

If you can't reach a 1,000 yards as a starting RB, you're simply not producing at the pro level. Also, why is it when we get close to the goal line, Barber comes in and Julius comes out?

Am I the only one who notices this as well?

Is that what a franchise back does near the goal line?

Sorry, but I have a higher standard for starting RB's and Julius hasn't produced like one yet IMO.

Johnson is better at breaking tackles but he has such a better OL the overall comparison is not fair to Julius.
Comparing Julius to Larry Johnson is unfair to Larry Johnson. Yeah KC has a great O line but when do you start giving the man some credit. If you think its all the Oline and the back has nothing to do about it then I'd be interested to hear what you have to say about Emmitt Smith.
Larry Johnson has started 14 games in the NFL career in those he has 1849 yards rushing and 26 total TDs. At some point you have to say damn that guy is pretty good and it may not just be the blocking.

The Lions used to take Barry Sanders out at the goaline.

Was he not a franchise back?

His not getting a 1000 yards is more on the offensive lines horrid performance last night.

His yardage is fine considering he split carries with another talented young back and he missed games in the middle of the season.

JJ was near 1000? Jees, that shows you how worthless that title is nowadays.

This is a TEAM sport. Let me ask you...did Randy Moss suddenly become a lousy WR? He sure didn't have a lot of yards this year. He didn't have many TD's either. Is he a lousy WR? Has he not proven anything to you (a la Julius Jones)?

Maybe it's important that someone be throwing him the ball effectively? And maybe for that QB to do that he needs his o-line to block?

See what I mean? It's a team sport. JJ is a great back who has been a little dinged up at times and whose o-line has been less than stellar. It does NOT mean he's not a good RB. He may not have proven anything to YOU, but in his first 20 games he has more yards than any other Dallas RB EVER in that same span of time.

He's proven plenty.

Yep. That was games played. The post I responded to stated after two seasons. Julius has played in 21 games in his first two seasons. Emmitt played in 32 games in his first two seasons so had more opportunities to gain more yards than Julius has in two seasons. Tony played in 30 games in his first two seasons. His first season in 1977 was the last NFL season to have only a 14 game regular season.
