Julius Jones is not an Ace...

Most teams don't have this "ace" back you speak of. I can probably count the number of "ace" backs with 2 hands that are in the league right now. A team is lucky to get one. I am confident JJ will get better as time goes on. I do know he is not the reason this team is losing right now. There are so many arguments you can make that you don't even need an "ace" back, so I don't know why you think we need one. The Steelers didn't even have one last year and they won the Superbowl. The Colts don't have one right now and they are 8-0. The Bears don't have one and they are 7-1, and if you try and tell me Thomas Jones is an "ace" back like you're speaking of then I will laugh.

Overall, a really bad point you're trying to make. Please think a little more about your post before you decide to post it.

Your great backs are 99% of the time Workhorses....Tiki Barber was a scat 3rd down back early in his career BUT he turned himself into a horse...JJ needs to take a step in that direction...an I'm not saying JJ's a scat back b/c he doesn't have hands ...but 17 carries is not an Elite back and don't ya think we'd give him 30 carries if we knew he could handle it?

Did you read the post earlier? He carried the ball 30 times for 3 straight games at one point.

If you are saying that JJ is not an 'A' back.
I agree.
He is the next level down.

Thank you!

I think he iS GOOD! I don't hate him! BUT IMO he's not an ELITE NFL Runner...IMO he's NOT a FRANCHISE BACK ....

I think most in the NFL would agree....I've said nothing bad here , I've said nothing mean spirited and I have not BLAMED him for anything ...

But there are people in this thread attacking me with personal insults...if I did that - I'd be gone...

Yes yes yes..and they never did it again. Why? b/c BP doesn't think he responds well to it...

not just Julius in particular, but all young backs coming into the league now, because now alot of young backs in college rotate w/ others

No...BP said that he wants to save him for towards the end of the season and also to give MBIII some carries. It ONLY makes sense. This isn't the NFL of our fathers...DB's, etc. are all bigger, faster and stronger.

Those that force the RB to carry 30+ times a game are stupid. Those backs won't last long in this NFL.

No kidding....

Carries do NOT equal an "ace" back at all.

He's averaging where EVERY franchise RB averages.

LT 7 30 carry games in 6 years (21 carries a game for his career)

Tiki Barber 1 game with 30 carries in 10 years (17 carries a game as full time starter for his career)

Emmitt Smith 3 30 carry games in his final 10 years (Career average 19 cpg)

JJ 4 30 carry games in 3 years (21 carries a game career)

Please move onto the next ******* thread

His "baseline" for being an "ace" back has been totally shredded.

Marion Barber the 3rd should be starting for this team and getting a bulk of the snaps.

Munchis....Out!!

He's a Dime a Dozen NFL RB...I think it's about time we all admit that...

He rarely ever breaks one off...he barely ever gets a gain of 20 plus...

You'd never see him pull off that Clinton Portis Run - or that Ladanian Tomlinson performance yesterday...

Truth be told JJ has to come out inside the 15 b/c he simply does not bust the hole hard enough....he also does not make people miss too often AND he goes down easily....the opposite of Pitbull Barber...

JJ is a useful player on a Team but not an ACE back ....

IMO - his time as the Top back in Dallas is jeopardy - Barber may overtake this season and or we may sign/draft a Top Flight RB next season in the draft or UFA....

Julius is pretty much a mirror of the team...mediocre.

I am convinced you are two of the same

Munchis is a fool, but I concur with the original argument. I posted the same yesterday. I believe Barber is the more compete package at RB. Julius is very good also... I am not detracting from his skills. I just think Barber is the better player and the difference of the home run ability of Jones and that of Barber is not that great given the % of times Jones busts a run like that.

5 runs for 10 is the same as 1 for 50, and does alot more to control the clock. Factor in T.O.P. and MBIII's skills in blocking and receiving and I really think it's kind of an easy call here.

Deal JJ at the end of the year for a high pick, use the pick on a complimentary back of the same caliber as JJ and feature Marion instead. I actually think BP thought about this long and hard this offseason as it is... remember the Jets deal that fell through? Or was there no deal? Who knows.

The fact remains that Barber can be a centerpiece of this offense if given the opportunity and seems to have the desire to compete at a high level and punish defenses that don't respect his considerable abilities. He is a terrific, terrific player and has the heart to match.

Julius is very good... but disappears far too often and is a liability in the passing game because his blocking is atrocious.

don't agree, how BP is using them right now is good. maybe if the OL opened holes for JJ maybe he could get a couple more yards, but barber is a great backup RB 2 have. and i think he has better vision then JJ does, and hits the holes harder.

Even though he has managed to stay healthy, JJ is nothing more than an average back in this league.

Average backs do not average 86 yards a game, as Julius has throughout his NFL career...

86.2 yards per game would work out to 1380 yards for a 16 game season (which is almost exactly what he's averaging thus far this season)... in 2005, there were 7 backs who gained more yardage than that... in 2004, there were 6 backs who gained more yardage than that... in 2003, there were 10 backs who gained more yardage than that...

If you can average almost 1400 yards rushing for every 16 games played, you are one of the ten best backs in the NFL, which of course is not "average"... he currently ranks 8th in the league in rushing, which of course is not "average"...

IOW, you're full of bovine fecal matter... those pesky ol' facts, they do get in the way of a good rant, don't they??
