Julius Jones is still a robot

julius won't be getting 25 carries a game
He only had 17 carries per game last year, and that was with a slow walk to the finish line.

JJ's never averaged 20 carries per game over a full season. He's just not that kind of back.

And until it does however, who is the better alternative?

apparently Jones, which is why he remains the starter

JJ has never been given the CHANCE to have 20+ carries a game in the last two years that he was there for the full season. There is no proof that he CANNOT do it.

Why does everyone think Julius should break a 20 yard run every carry?

I just think some poeple will never forget the Stephen Jackson issue. Somehow that is JJ fault just like it is Ellis' fault we did not draft Randy Moss. Ellis somehow should be better because we got him instead of Moss.

Julius is definitely not the same runner he was in his rookie year. I hope we see that guy again!

Parcells taught him all that.

Of course. Bill Parcells has ended more careers than astroturf.

Never made one though. Not a single one.

that is because he's soft! he can't take the beating a real rb can take

Sitting out for basically the first two months probably had something to do with it.

It's all laughable. Now that Parcells and his need to prove himself right on that pick are gone, we shouldn't still be trapped in this.

Though I highly suspect Jason and Wade are just waiting for the moment to hand the reins over to Barber. Them saying they want things to remain "status-quo" is just a ploy in wait for Julius to lose the job on his own rather than throw fuel on a rb controversary that is already burning pretty hot as it is. This will kill the fire once and for all. ...Or atleast until next season when Run-DMC hits the Texas Turf running. I'm sure there will be those saying Barber should remain starter.

JJ's main weakness is Barber's main strength, YAC. Julius falls down after initial contact while Barber just trucks over defenders. I hope they both excel, but I have my doubts with JJ. CB and RB will be the 2 positions we focus on come 2008, though I would consider CB a higher priority at this point (age, lack of speed at the position).

I don't think he ever was a Robot. He just wasn't nearly as good as most people here thought he was. And he still isn't.

And he still goes down on first contact 99% of the time.

Yes, cuz coaches are never wrong, right?

Or maybe he remains the starter cuz Wade knows JuJo can't handle Barber's role (3rd down back/goalline back) and he doesn't want to play Barber in EVERY role?

Nah, that couldn't possibly be it.

If we had another RB that could consistently CATCH the ball AND pick up the blitz, MB3 would be starting.

honestly dont know why this keeps coming up...until the run blocking improves, nobody is going to have alot of success running here

quoted for muhfugging troof.

Beating up on some of the most futile run defenses in the NFL really opened some eyes to how good Julius could really be......if he played the worst run defenses in the NFL every week.

There are holes, our run blocking has been solid in the preseason. Julius just has the RB vision of Ray Charles. He can't see the holes, and he can't get to the holes. And if he manages to get to one, he's not breaking any tackles.

It's predictable. And it's foolish to expect it to change. But...here's to hope.

Call me foolish, but I expect JJ's carries to go down and Barber's to go up. There's a reason Barber has gone in with the first teamers in the 2nd quarter of the last two games, and I don't think it's because we're protecting JJ. It doesn't make any sense to put JJ back into the game in the 3rd quarter, if you're trying to protect him.

That's not foolish. They are two very equally talented backs with different skill sets. It only makes sense to have basically equal carries. I am hopeful that aside from situational stuff, the new staff will sub in the hot hand, not stick to a predetermined formula or something. If Julius is on, feed him. If marion is on, the same.

What's foolish is expecting a player to morph suddenly in his 4th year in the league. It's like half of us are watching Julius Jones on sunday's, and half of us are watching Barney.

Yep. I scratch my head when Jerry Jones says Julius needs to have a bigger share of the carries, which he said just the other day.

"I would like to see a better ratio than Julius had at the end of the year. That's not taking anything away from Barber. You just need Julius more involved to give us the best offense."

Parcells just got the benefit of the doubt WAY too many times. It was largely b/c he was a Parcells pick that he generated ALL this hype. Heck-if I remember correctly, more pundits than expected said Vinny would get us deep into the playoffs in '04

If Julius had gone to, let's say, the Bears, the Mel Kiper's of the world would be saying "Eh?".
