Should have made this a poll.dmq said:Forget that we got an extra pick. What guy do you like the most and why?

KDWilliams85 said:You should be smitten for that. Tell that to Ricky Williams (back before he quit) or T.J. Duckett. They aren't both change-of-pace backs. They are set-the-pace runningbacks. Speed isn't everything in the NFL. Speed kills but speed isn't any good if you can't use it.

And on top of that T.J Was a change of pace back, he was brought in to get thsoe 3 and 4th and 1's and goal line he is a pounder.
I'm actually dizzy from reading this post. A change of pace back is the guy who comes in after the pace has been set. That would be the backup. You can't change the pace if it hasn't been set.KDWilliams85 said:A change-of-pace runningback doesn't have to be a backup. You'd use Steven Jackson if a defense was small and fast. You'd use Julius Jones if a defense was big and bulky.
By no means is a change-of-pace a back up. They're sound offensive strategy. Teams can plan around a central back. That's why Minnesota's offense was good. Minnesota had three backs that could pick apart a defense. Bennett was that burner. Smith was a big back that could run. Mewelde Moore was that back that could run the goalline. Moe Williams was that balanced runningback.
Any team that has a change-of-pace back... as you see it... has nothing more than an extra fullback.

Julius Jones in his first 8 games of his career (where he was still adjusting to the speed of the game, etc) put up amazing numbers. KJ was just as impressive in that time spand, but he had almost a full season to adjust and learn the game.
All you have to do is look at the games, how many times did we see EG go down in the back field or barely make the LOS? How many times did we see JJ in the same situation, on to completely stop, and embarass the would be tackler and then burst into the secondary like he was running a straight line through a gaping hole the whole time? This kid has moves, adequate power (for his size, its quite impressive) and what maybe the best acceleration in the league. THe only knock on him that I have is that he seems out of control a lot. He is very quick, but instead of doing a smooth transition and taking his time, he sprints when he hits the secondary, often getting tripped up.
We will see who ends up better, imo jackson can't be considered until he is more than a change of pace back.

Let's put it this way. I won't be surprised if he has the shortest career of the 3 due to over use. I won't be surprised if he gains more yards than the other 2 due to brute force.Alexander said:Smashmouth is great with the right back.
But Jackson has shown himself to be a bit soft for that role.
No thanks.
