Julius Jones-RB-Cowboys

The Lions reportedly may visit with free agent Julius Jones on Monday.
It would be Jones' first free agent visit. The Lions need a running back badly with Kevin Jones (torn ACL) not expected to be ready for opening day.

I wish JJ Good Luck where ever he goes, it was sad that IMO Parcells tinkered with his running style so much it made him into a Robot, he was so exciting his first year or so here.

What was his excuse last year without Parcells ?

His running style changed, didn't Bill tell him to just hit the Hole were the play was designed to go weather it was there or not and not Cutback or take it outside?.

I think everyone can see something changed, whether it was Parcells getting into his head or overtraining with that quack trainer that David Boston and his brother used. His confidence and ability to cutback just disappeared.

And he usually dropped after first contact too.

Is that the Loins opinion or the mediots opinion? Because if the Lions thought they needed a RB that bad, Julius would have been there two days ago before someone else possibly got him.

I agree. It's one of the great mysteries of football.

No.

5nos.

JJ had some very good games for us last year -- at one point in the season he was running hard, breaking tackles, and hard to bring down. People want to go with various dumb all or nothing assessments of him but he was an important part of our success last year and we will need to bring in a high pick to replace him. Do we want an upgrade? Sure. But the guy certainly didn't stink as much as people like to make out.

This is only partially correct. Yes, he ran hard to start the year, did his job effectively, although still woefully average. But after the first few games, he absolutely stunk as much as people like to make out. He was horrible - one of the worst starting RBs in the NFL, in a tandem or otherwise.

Lots of backs run hard and try their best. It's not going to be hard to replace this "important part of our success" last year.

I would agree with the first sentence and think he will have some good moments with a new team next year. Although he did decline from his rookie season, JJ still has a possibility of starting in this league, so he should try to find what makes him happy and work on proving his doubters wrong. JJ's biggest problem in Dallas was that the running back behind him was the better running back.

Looks like the Lions are trying to at some point obtain all the RB's drafted in '04.
