I was talking with someone in Charlotte late today and they were mentioning that on a radio program there that there was some talk of a Greg Ellis and a third round pick for Julius Peppers.

Have no idea how credible it is, but that was the talk per this person.

Way too much $.

My thoughts as well. Not sure I would want to pony up that much dough and still have to sign Ware.

But who knows what JJ is thinking?

Hmm J. Peppers to Dallas for Ellis and 3rd would be a steal... I guess he'd be the strongside outside LBer.

Ellis and Peppers would be a wash this year as far as salary. Peppers actually might be cheaper this year.

After thinking about it, it kinda makes sense from a "fit" perspective. Peppers wants to play that role and he is not in Carolina and Ellis has moaned about it since the move to that position. I just know if I like it or not from a financial perspective.

No cap baby!! Get him before there's restrictions on how many FA's you can sign.

There is going to have to be a cap at some point or else there will be a lockout by the owners.

Unless we renegotiated, he would come to us as a franchised player. He has yet to sign his offer with Carolina, so he would play at that amount.

lol well obviously they can't afford his 17 million dollar salary. So he'd probably sign the deal, get traded then Dallas signs him to a 5 yr deal which knocks it down to about 5-6 mil a year.

Exactly... How would Jerry sign both Ware and Peppers? Unless he plans to unload Spencer too.

What's Peppers' motivation for signing a deal where he would make less than the $17 million he's due to make in Carolina this season?

Even if that ridiculous compensation was enough for the Panthers, the amount of money Peppers would want makes it impossible to pay both he and Ware.
