i think jerry is talking depth. plain and simple

I thought that too at first but at the same time we all know Jerry and depth isnt very "flashy" or "newsworthy".

I want to say that this is Hamlin's final warning before the ax falls.

We haven't taken a DL since Wade got here. I've been thinking we will eventually... Maybe this year.

I have to wonder if Wade isn't that sold on Spears. I kind of doubt Jerry was talking only about the backups.

A guy who might be there at 27 and looks like a big time player is Brandon Graham. He is not space eater though. He looked like the best player on the field in the Senior Bowl.

Spears or Hatcher could be gone.

Personally I think this is Jerry's way of covering the bases in the draft esp in the first round.

If Earl T and Iupati (sp?) are gone, if they can not trade down or don't want to take another safety or OL there...I could see them target Odrick.

Why the hate on Otis? Of course Sam is alot better but Otis has got some skills as well.

He's an excellent guy for 3-4 OLB. He's got that tweener size that they look for and he definitely was a force.

I agree, i just prefer Sam on that song, alot of people credit that song to Otis and it is one of Sam;s best. He just says it to shock thats all, its all in good fun.

Cody might be on his way to Dallas... Move Ratliff to DE.

Every time I see someone suggest this it's like someone biting their fork when they are eating.... Why move a pro bowl player at one position to another... Hes where we need him to be.

hmm, anyone except qb. So in other words BPA? I wonder if spiller fell if jerry would pull the trigger.

If you think Spiller would be better than any other RB on the team including Felix, which I do, then you pick him up. Even if you think he adds a lot to the RB corps then you take him. You don't pass on playmakers either. At the very least the KR game goes to the front of the NFL.

Why do you persist with this? Ratliff says he doesn't want to play DE, Wade says they already tried him there and it didn't work, and he's the best NT in the game.

Not only that but it would affect Ratliff and his future contract. As much as everyone wants the "undersized pro-bowl NT" to move to DE it will NEVER happen as long as he is a Cowboy. Ratliff won't allow it and Wade/Jerry won't do it.

here is some more from jerry;
Just CHILL: Jerry Jones says players should be nervous as changes are coming but not at receiver with Roy Williams

Clarence Hill

Just talked to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and I'm working on a full story but here are the headlines.

Jones said the Cowboys would be mistaken to think their playoff win means they are getting close to the top. He said the blowout loss to Minnesota means they have a long way to go.

So he wants them as scared, uncomfortable and nervous going into the offseason as they were last year and thus said personnel changes are coming.
He said especially look for changes on the offensive line, defensive line and possibly safety.

Of course he also all but guaranteed a starter job for receiver Roy Williams.
As far as the draft is concerned, he said the Cowboys will target every position for their first round pick except for quarterback.

TCU's Newhouse kicks into overdrive
TCU offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse registered the third fastest time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine today. Newhouse ran a 5.00 to place behind only Maryland's Bruce Campbell and Oklahoma's Trent Williams.

It's easy to see why the Cowboys like Campbell so much. Not only is he 6-6 1/2, 314 with little or no body fat but he's also fast. Campbell ran a 4.85 while Williams ran a 4.88.

Williams is expected to be drafted in the first 10 picks while Campbell is a mid-to-late first round pick. Newhouse was projected as a fifth or sixth round pick, but could move up with the excellent 40 time.

I don't understand people wanting to move a pro bowl NT to end. Ratliff is a beast where he is and has said that he doesn't want to play at end. I would be fine giving him a few reps at end in certain situations but leave him at NT and let him do work.

That comment by Jerry adds alot of credibility to the comment I made to Hostile a couple of weeks ago in which he disagreed with that the Cowboys have a ways to go after that blowout loss to Minnesota. :toast:

changes to the DL? I knew it!!!!!!!!!, we are going to get SUH...

I kid

No Ratliff wants to make almost $8 million a year so Jerry will put him to end and not pay Spears. You saw it with Canty. Watch Terrence Cody get the look in the 2nd and that will be our nose tackle.

There are some real good safeties in this draft but there aren't any stellar o-lineman in FA, but there are loads of them in the first round of the draft. If we can get Antrel Rolle this will help us immensely in going after a blue chip o-lineman in the first round. They can then get big Cody in the 2nd if we have to move up as our NT.

Jerry believes in our strength and conditioning program and Wade was the guy who vouched for Jamal Williams back in SD. Cody is in the same mold if he can get his big butt in shape. The coaching staff is going to have to believe he can stay committed to doing so.

I agree with leaving Ratliff at end but he is going to command more $ and DT's make considerably less than DE's so Ratliff would go to end to make the cheddar, pretty any player able to do so would. Once he gets close to $8 million a season Jerry will want to move Ratliff there.
