Just how weak our schedule has been to this point

"Strength of schedule" - especially when assessed pre-season - is illusory, and is entirely fluid during the season. This season's opponents are in no way guaranteed to perform as well - or as badly - as they did in the prior year's campaign. Certainly no excuse for failure, or reason for success. The only time you can accurately assess SOS is after the season is over.

Look at DEN, for example. Almost any team in the NFL would have been delighted to see them on the preseason schedule. Who figures them for an easy "W" now?

14 common opponents.

We all play same teams vs the NFCE, NFCW and AFCE this year.
Only difference is that we play 2nd place teams from NFCN, NFCS, and AFCW and the Eagirls play the 1st place teams. So that's 3 games that are different from 17 games. 17-3=14.
Depends on whether you consider playing each other a common opponent or not.

Beating the dog out of bad teams is a hallmark of really good teams in the NFL.
That's true though another hallmark of really good teams is that they compete and win their fair share of games against other good teams. The reason this has become a narrative with the Cowqboys isn't because of the games they're consistently winning, it's because of the games they're consistently losing. If they go out and win 3 of the next 5 games then this narrative evaporates.

The combined record of Cowboys opponents is 48-77. However, one of the reasons it is that low is because the Cowboys beat their opponents in 8 of 11 games. If you deduct the Cowboys games then the record is 45-69 and their percentage is .396. To be fair, the percentage should not include the head to head games.

So the winning percentage of the teams the Cowboys beat, sans the loss to the Cowboys is .337 (28-55).
