Yeah I kind of feel the same way you do about Romo, Witten, and Ware specifically. These three are the leaders and 3 of the top 5 players on the team and they talk a good game but don't back it up on the field. It is getting late in all 3 of their careers and i'm just not seeing the sense of urgency with any of them. I really want to break up this team late last season but they started showing some signs against Cincy and Pitt but man I don't know how long you can go with these core guys and see the same results every year. At some point you have to start thinking about your future QB and other areas for this team.

How exactly are they talking a good game?

You don't like the argument that the 2011 NYFG won it all at 9-7? How 'bout 2007 10-6 Giants, then? Or the 2012 10-6 Baltimore Ravens? Or the 2010 10-6 Green Bay Packers? Is it enough to just get there? I know we're Dallas Cowboys fans and all and we expect to get to the dance *and* have a 12-4 record in the process, but the 2008 9-7 Arizona Cardinals probably don't feel too badly about that Superbowl season in retrospect.

Like it or not, 10-6 and 9-7 can get you, not just to the preseason, but all the way to the Superbowl in this league. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging an obvious truth.

acknowledge it but recognize the probability of that occurring is slim to none. that was a special giants team with great character guys, clutch QB, and great head coach. we don't have any of that here so stop bringing it up like an obsessive girlfriend jerry. we are the DALLAS COWBOYS. this franchise has lost respect for itself if 9-7 and sneaking into the tourney is the new standard.

I look at the rest of the league and there are teams that are good year in and year out.

The Cowboys are pretty mediocre year in and year out.

2 things seperate the mediocrity from the good teams. Quarterbacking and Coaching....

5 different franchises have won the last 5 Superbowls. Yes, there are stronger organizations who give themselves a chance each year, but it's a league of parity.

And it's an oversimplification to say that QB play and coaching are the two things that separate the good teams from the mediocre ones. Passing more effectively than your opponent is what wins games in this league, and that entails both QB play and passing game defense. It's no mystery where they Cowboys have been lacking in that regard in recent seasons, but many fans find that reality unsatisfying for reasons that make absolutely zero sense to me.

That Giants team put inordinate pressure on the opposing QB. And their own QB had a very, very good run in the playoffs. Similar to the 11-TD-0-interception postseason performance Joe Flacco put on to win it all last year. It has nothing to do with us being the Dallas Cowboys or having enough respect for ourselves. It has nothing to do with any standard for regular-season victories. We need to continue the great QB play, and make it a heck of a lot harder for the other QBs to play great against us. That's the reality of the situation in the league right now, and there's no use in pretending otherwise.

In your mind, there really is some connection between having a message board fit and 'not accepting mediocrity,' isn't there? I always struggle to believe that people think this way, but there's too much evidence for it not to be the case. Acting surprised and upset every season is not 'keeping the flame alive' for the rest of us, Catch. At some point you have to stop and take a look at the rest of the league, take a look at the other organizations, take a look at what the league is consciously trying to achieve with the decisions it makes, and arrive at the conclusion that this is the way things are, and it's the way things are going to be for the foreseeable future for any NFL fan. Holding Your Breath for Excellence starts to look like sort of a silly idea eventually, doesn't it?

i agree. And then you have to look at the Cowboys schedule. The only team that was really a team they shouldve beat was the giants and rams. And they did. KC is 4-0 and SD every game has went down to the wire. I think too many people want to be the i told you so people. Im just interested in rooting for the Cowboys. They lose i get upset then just go on with my week. I cant remember which Cowboys player it was but he sent out a tweet saying. Be a fan, but be a fan when times are tough too. Thats a real fan. Truest words spoken.

Jerry Jones on #Cowboys fans expecting more: "I don't expect them to think any differently. We push it out there. We build up expectations."
Jerry Jones asked by @rjchoppy if #Cowboys are living off their 90s brand: "No. The Cowboys are living the brand. We're making the brand."
Jerry Jones: #Cowboys offensive line has been playing well. "Tony's got plenty of time to make the throws."
Jerry Jones on Morris Claiborne: "He's just got to get his confidence up. We know what kind of player he is, what kind of athlete he is."
Jerry Jones on Dez Bryant: "He can make that catch with two people on him. You throw him the ball when he's double-covered."
Jerry Jones: "Dez is going. He's blowing and going. He's doing a great job. He's a far better player than he was at this time last year."

Clarence Hill ‏@clarencehilljr 51m
Jerry jones on radio: You might be able to get in there with 9-7 and 9-7 may win you the world championship. That's the NFL of today.
Jones on romo's Peyton manning input: He is a lot more involved. He was a lot more involved than he ever thought about being in years past.
Jerry on Romo: When you're basically serving it up, you recognize where you want to and don't want to take risks. So he's more conservative
Jerry Jones on Dez: You throw him the ball when he's double covered. He's been throwing to him when it's double coverage. You can do that.
More Jerry Jones on Romo: I like the way Romo is playing, really like the way he is playing.

As I have been saying this guys Plan A is to "just get in and see what happens".

And this isn't the first time I heard him do this but he bragged about the brands popularity. This summer he was at a speaking engagement and he bragged about the Cowboys being the most popular team in sports in America. The crowd roared their approval which I just shook my head at. The popularity of the Cowboys does nothing for us as fans, it only fills JJs pockets. As fans, first and foremost, wins in the postseason should be what we applaud.

JJ went on to say the brand stays popular because the organization works hard to keep it in the forefront.

Newflash Jerry, if you put all that effort into fielding a championship team, marketing the team would take care of itself.

I would applaud this post but my other hand is reaching for money to buy more Cowboys perpetuanalia.

:)and yet we are in first place

Wow... The other 3 teams were either winless(one still is) or had/now have 1 win.

And you post this?

When we lose and eagles win vs giants.... Voila .... Tied for first on the way out of first.

Will you then post... "Well we were in first place"

Lmao

You can be a die hard fan and STILL HATE this crap that's going on... Been going on.
I live in NY... people call me, "hey Dallas" or " hey cowboy"... It's well known my comebacks are "I am a Dallas fan, every year - win or lose"..... I don't go into hiding or hibernation like giants fans when they lose. Lol

Both of those losses were very winnable games.

The chiefs are not real. Bet they go 2-6 last half of season.
The chargers are us.... But they still beat us lol

It's laughable.

We're going to do this. This year will be different. We need to provide more leadership, etc. etc.

Haven't heard any of the players say "we're going to do this" or "this year will be different"

If Dallas wins, the Cowboys make more money, plain and simple. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Plus, Jerry has an ego...

Unless and until Jerry understands the value of the running game, we will not be the team that we could be. Since he drives the direction of the team, he needs to put a boot on Callahan, Romo & Garrett's collective necks, telling them to keep the running game working throughout the entire game.

There will never be enough fans willing to Boycott Jerry to make a dent in the popularity of the team and mediocrity still works in Jerry's favor financially. We don't have to be winning SBs to be popular, just need to be somewhat relevant in last few weeks of season, which we usually are.

So Jerry needs to tell Callahan and Garrett how to coach and Romo how to play the game?

You might want to rethink that idea.

one of the worst things to happen to this organization is when the giants won the super bowl with the 9-7 regular season record. ever since then jerry is obsessed with replicating that here. i mean i've heard him bring that stupid team up at least a dozen times the last few years.

Moreover, the Giants are one of the most streaky, unpredictable teams in NFL history. I'll be honest. I haven't counted them out this year yet.

JERRY JONES is in charge of everything from "SOCKS to JOCKS" I personally believe he has been sniffing them.

That's great for the Giants and Ravens, not so great for the other 11 teams who had better seasons and ultimately didn't succeed.

The idea that one, two, or 6 teams were able to do the improbable in no way should encourage any other team to try and do the same.

The best way to actually be in contention for a Superbowl is to be a good team, not skirt into the playoffs on a hope and a prayer.

just an fyi, Jerry has still not been seen on the video board during a game since he was booed against the giants last year.

unless I missed him on the screen this year which is absolutely possible.

Not one person in the media in a year has asked him Why Himself or Jason garrett are not shown on the video board during games anymore after getting absolutely booed by 90000 vs the giants last year.

That is awesome info
