Jerry Jones on Dez Bryant: "He can make that catch with two people on him. You throw him the ball when he's double-covered."

LOL! What? This is a GM making this statement. Really?

I don't buy that his sole passion is winning. I just don't believe that. If he truly believed in putting the best team together & being the best he'd hire guys to make that happen beginning with stepping down as GM. He came here though & it was going to be his way or no way & he's never budged.

So at this point I think he's all about Jerry & about being the money he's making. If he wasn't making so much & the Cowboys weren't such a huge brand name he would step down. Because it would be hurting his bottom line.

He really has it made. He can play with his toy & keep making money. He's the owner. He can do whatever he wants. And he does.

If Jerry only cared about winning then he would have done everything in his considerable power to keep Jimmy happy and coaching the Cowboys.

Jerry is NOT always about the bottom line let alone winning championships. Both have to complement his greatest passion, which is the limelight and stoking his ego. His ego is paramount with him.

Agreed, but he would have to give up his hobby and cede control to a real GM first. As long as he can sell 88 jerseys and $15 beers to opposing fans, he will continue to do it his way.

$15 beers are cheap compared to where I am. Try $20 or even $25 beers.

look at every team that has won the SB the last 10 years and you will see that the biggest factor was the HC.
Coughlin somehow has Bellicek's number. Outside of that in every SB one HC owns the other

Jerry's flaws became apparent decades ago. He's not about to hire a GM nor become less involved and he's admitted as much many times. Our best hope to improve in the short term lies in Garrett improving as a HC and for both the offense and defense to improve, perhaps around midseason or so, if we're lucky. Otherwise, there isn't a great deal any of us can do other than bellyache or simply put up with things as they are to obtain relief. Neither of those two things are likely to put this team into the playoffs, though. It's tough being a Cowboys' fan these days. It'll likely get even tougher next week. We should probably brace ourselves, at least for now.

Jerry says he cant sleep at night because he is so excited about the potential of this team and the next thing you know people are talking about winning Super Bowl. It is a joke, he did pretty much nothing in the off season that would suggest that things would be any different than they have been the last few seasons. To top it off he continues to cripple their ability to improve in the future by not being able to make tough decisions when it comes to guys like Anthony Spencer and Jay Ratliff. I really think that he keeps these guys around because of the brand, and his ability to help sell the snake oil that some fans are eager to eat up. Every off season he starts talking about a championship, why because he knows we are addicted to his product and desperate for this team to return to its past glory.

just an fyi, Jerry has still not been seen on the video board during a game since he was booed against the giants last year.

unless I missed him on the screen this year which is absolutely possible.

Not one person in the media in a year has asked him Why Himself or Jason garrett are not shown on the video board during games anymore after getting absolutely booed by 90000 vs the giants last year.
don't expect those 105.3 clowns to ask him. they talk tough behind his back but as soon as the interview starts, they walk on egg shells.

i wish jerry had a weekly interview with dale hansen.

That's great for the Giants and Ravens, not so great for the other 11 teams who had better seasons and ultimately didn't succeed.

The idea that one, two, or 6 teams were able to do the improbable in no way should encourage any other team to try and do the same.

The best way to actually be in contention for a Superbowl is to be a good team, not skirt into the playoffs on a hope and a prayer.

Might be the best way but it doesnt usually happen that way. Just look back at the patriots going undefeated and lost the superbowl.

Obviously, teams aren't trying to lose games. But those records reflect the reality that how you're playing at the end of the season means more right now than how you played throughout the entirety of a season. The first 12 weeks here are preamble. If you can get yourself into position for the post-season, then it's not really until mid-December that you can get a gauge on which teams are likely to be able to make runs in their conferences. Even then, It's hard to tell. A team like the 2007 Giants started to look scary in their season ending loss to the Patriots. They got better and better with each big win in the playoffs, and came in on a roll.
That's not an excuse for our current team being at 2-2 when I'd probably have penciled them in at 3-1 at this point. It's a simple commentary on how Superbowl runs seem to be happening right now.
