I have no idea why anyone would want to draft a running back in the first round? In today's NFL you want longevity with your first pick and drafting a running back isn't it. It's very rare that an NFL running back is going to have the same impact and effectiveness during his second contract (if he even gets one) like he did in his first. There are so many better options there so if the Cowboys were smart in the first round (they've done very well here btw) they will pass on Bijan Robinson, who is a very good running back but the Cowboys will do so much better in the long run with an offensive lineman. Connor McGovern's spot hasn't been filled so an O-line at 26 would make a lot of sense, especially with all the good O-lineman that they've drafted in the past in the first round then maybe take a running back on day two or three.
How well have we done drafting offline man the past 10 years?
Take Robinson as our QB needs all the help he can get!!!!!

He wont make it to 26, but if he does I would be pretty sad if the Cowboys passed. This whole idea that you can't take an RB because they wont last for a 2nd contract is ridiculous. I get not making a Zeke mistake again and missing out on a Jalen Ramsey that high, but at 26 you may not even have a 1st round grade on anyone when you pick aside from the RB that fell to you.

I'm not skipping over a top RB in fears that I'll have to let him walk in 5 years so that I can instead reach for another Taco Charleton or Mike Jenkins towards the end of the 1st round that I'll be looking to cut after 3.

If we had a top 10 pick I would look at it differently, but this is the 26th over selection. Just draft your board. If you like the player and can get them on the field then you draft them. Don't overcomplicate things by worrying about 2028

How about this century as regards really top OL after the first rd. WE have gotten a couple of good ones but nothing special AFTER the first rd
About half of the all-pro's this year were taken outside of the 1st round if you want recent data. The odds really drop almost to zero after the third round though.

He's a top-5 talent in the draft, we have a first time starter playing on the franchise tag and coming off of a broken ankle, and this offense requires a strong rushing attack to succeed. Drafting Robinson at 26 is a smart move. It fills a gap and eliminates the need to spend premium assets at the position for the next 5 years. Can you think of a player in this draft that would make a bigger impact year 1?

I do not think he will be there at 26 because Booger will move up to get the Texas Plum of the draft.

For the main reasons he wanted Manziel, Robinson fits that. Jersey sales soar and Horns fans begin to grab tickets by the handful.

How many UT alums do you think there are in the Metroplex? How many of the Austin alums would plan trips to Arlington on the weekends?

RB's might not be what they once were in the NFL but they are in Texas.

This isn't complicated. He's a difference maker? Take him.
Yep, positional value has it's place but talent has to be the ultimate truth. If the consensus that he is one of the top handful of players in this draft is anywhere near correct, he will easily be the BPA. Forget position at that point.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

First off, he's probably the best player in this draft. PLUS, when you draft him in the first round, you get the 5th year option, and then you can franchise tag him another year if you'd like.

That's SIX years of incredibly high value for one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the league. YOU DO THAT!!

Rosters turn over about 75% every year or two anyway. Never play the long game in the NFL because it doesn't exist anymore.

However.....he will be long gone by Dallas' pick anyway. I fear he'll be in Washington or Philly, in fact.

probably not but i can listen to the argument that the following do the same or similar.
Gibbs
Charbonett
Achenae
We could use the trenches for sure but if we can get those in 2,3 and 4 and pick up Bijon in 1 Ill be happy

There is no chance Bijan makes it to 26,
Zero Zip Nadda;
Jerry needs to already be in conversations with with the Steelers for a trade just in case he falls to 18.
All you " bUt tHiS iS a PaSsiNg League." idiots can wipe the egg off your faces while watching Bijan totally destroy defenses for the next 4-5 years.
Get your offensive lineman in the 2nd round.
If the eagles take Bijan we will basically be forced to take Gibbs just so we can halfway match them in the running game.

I think you guys need to be realistic about the talent they will be there at 26…..you won’t sniff a talent as good as Bijan and the only way he falls if people believe this silly opinion of drafting running backs in the 1st round.

I’m not thrilled with drafting an RB with our first pick either but if you have a top-five talent sitting there, which is what Bijon Robinson is at number 26 you can’t pass him up, especially after releasing Zeke and needing a replacement. The only way I pass Robinson up at number 26 is if Dalton Kincaid is sitting there. He could end up being another Travis Kelce.

From the purely entertainment part of this game and watching a potential high octane offense, Robinson makes a lot of sense.

And don't forget, this owner was the first to address the fact that the NFL is all about entertainment.

And from the purely safe pick point of view in the 1st round, is there a better one than Robinson?

I think the 4 teams taking QB's within the first 5 picks are rolling the dice more than the Cowboys taking Robinson.

From NJ.com

During his interview with the Eagles, this question was part of Bijan's interview:

Roseman asked: Why do I need to take you at No. 10?
Robinson’s reply: “You’re not going to get a running back. You’re going to get a difference-maker.”
