If we sign a guard it won't be necessary drafting this guy.

True but all the top Guards want Hutchinson type money.

Best Player available or trade down fellas.

I always believed in BPA that fits a need. As far as trades that depends on what we would get in return and who the trade is with in terms of their draft position.

OG isn't our only need

I agree. I'm not locking in on just one scenario and would not be upset if Dallas were to get a top WR or some un-expected prospect fell to us. I do think the OL has to be addressed it is something this team has not concentrated on enough and each year the OL seems to be a weak link that ends up causing us problems. Sooner or later it has to be addressed and real corner stones added to that line. I think some are looking at this as I want a glamor pick but all the skill players in the world are not going to cure problems taking place in the trenches.

At 22 we look hard at: CB,FS,OL,NT. If there is someone at one of those areas that we consider a first rd pick, grab him. If there is more then one- pick the one highest on our board.

I fwe do not sign a G in FA I would not have a problem taking Blalock as our 1st pick.

I f I had my way we would sign a G in FA and draft Gaines Adams if we were lucky enough to have him fall to us.

Why would anyone want to take the third or fourth best guard prospect with the 22nd pick?

Maybe in the second round.

And for gawd's sake, can't people take off the Longhorn glasses for a month or two before the draft?

unless they are moving Henry to FS, CB isnt going to be the the 1st pick

and I am almost 100% sure they arnt drafting a NT early...they paid a boatload of money for Ferguson two yrs ago and he played pretty well last yr

I'm also reasonably sure we arnt drafting an OL in the first UNLESS they let Columbo walk away and dont sign a replacement

I really think they'll be looking at WR's early this yr...FS wouldnt be a shock though if Landry or nelson fell in our lap

Once a player enters the NFL Draft, his alma mater becomes irrelevant. It is no longer about that he played football at UT but rather that he is a damn good NFL prospect at a need position (assuming we don't fill the spot in free agency) who might still be available when we pick. It's really not that hard to understand if you just take off the Longhorn-hating glasses.

;)

Oh and Blalock is the "third or fourth best guard prospect?" Name two or three Offensive Guards in this draft who are better prospects.

Grubbs and Beekman...possiby Yanda...with an outside shot at Ramirez.

And BS that his alma mater doesn't matter. This and almost every Cowboys' board is teeming with simple-minded people who go on ad naseum about every former Longhorn, blinded by their emotion.

Plus I'm not a Texas hater - I'm totally indifferent on them as a team and pretty impartial evaluating their players. Witness me probably being the first on this board to suggest Ross is the best corner in the draft but also realizing that Blalock's nothing special and definitely not worth the 22nd pick in the draft.

Well, I disagree that either of those are better OG prospects than Blalock (especially Sears, who I think will project more as an OT in the NFL) but to each his own. Just have to wait and see.

I'd rather go corner. I would not, however be upset if we took him at 22. I just don't see him there. Just a hunch.

This year's draft doesn't have a corner worth the 22nd pick in my opiniion...

That's funny because I would take Blalock over Grubbs and Beekman (Yanda too) but would definitely take Hall and Revis over Ross. Not McCauley (burnt toast) but definitely the other two.

Blalock certainly could go in the top 20 and deserve it. But I don't think he will.

We keep pushing people into the top 20, and not all of them fit. I don't see Blalock going that high.

QB Russell
QB Quinn
RB Peterson
WR C. Johnson
WR Ginn
T Thomas
T Brown
DT Branch
DT Okoye
DE Anderson
DE Adams
DE Carriker
S Nelson

That's 13 guys I can't imagine going outside of the top 20.

Then you got all the guys that people keep wanting to push into the top 20:
RB Lynch
WR Bowe
WR Jarrett
WR Meachum
WR Rice
DE Johnson
DE Moss
DE Moses
LB Willis
LB Timmons
S Landry
S Griffin
CB Hall
CB Revis

I could go on... but basically, not all of these people can go in the top 20. I think there is a high probability that Blalock is there at 22.

Good post!
