We drafted Steve McNair in the 4th round. Prescott is a special player and you can see it from space. Romo is a better player and will start when he returns, but Dak is special. When Dak went onto the field down by 3 in the 4th Quarter, I KNEW he was going to take the team down the field for the winning score. And he did. He is going to be a special player.

This game was the 2014 plan, control the game with the offense and keep the defense off the field. The problem with that is that our DLine is atrocious until DLaw gets back and the rotational guys like Tapper and Davis (and possible Gregory) can take snaps. Irving played a lot today which helped, but any team will pick you apart if you can’t bring pressure – which is what Cousins almost did in the second half. On the sack by T. Crawford, we were playing an all – DT line of Crawford, McClain, Collins and Jack Crawford. He got the sack, but that lineup is a desperation move.

Give Claiborne his props, he is playing very well. Carr had a blown assignment but is much better as the 2nd or 3rd CB instead of trying to cover #1 WRs. Jones is settling into his role and I bet grades out well for this game. Even Church played well, though I think his pick was more of a bad pass by Cousins than a brilliant play by Church.

Elliot played a lot better and Lynch’s comparison to LaDanien Tomlinson is spot on. He needs more time, but did much better today when he showed some patience. Free had some bad plays, but the OL is starting to play to its capabilities. And that is huge.

This game was example # 4,654,987 of how the Refs control the game. Not to favor one team, but to make sure the score stays close, fans don’t tune out and advertising revenue to the league stays high. Dallas played its 2014 game plan to control the game on offense, then up 10 – 0 Washington doesn’t convert a 3rd down but the refs make a ridiculous PI call on Claiborne to keep them in the game. If Dallas goes up 17 – 0, everyone turns off the game and the NFL loses money – which is why they didn’t let it happen. I thought the “in the grasp” sack of Dak late in the game was also a call to keep things close and not let Dallas pull ahead.

And my last point - we drafted Steve McNair in the 4th round.

completely disagree with the church play, church was on the other side of the field, read cousins eyes and made the play coming out of no where in cousin's mind. intelligent read by church. people who want to bench elliot are knee jerking. his play was much improved this week and i expect it to only get better from here on. yes the fumbles were head shakers but i think it was a good learning experience for him.

McNair is the comparison I keep coming to as well. They're both big and mobile guys with strong arms, but they use their mobility to escape rather than run.

Yes, the call on Claiborne was terrible.

Also, one reason that having a smallish DL can be a problem compared to a big DL like the Giants use, is that holding affects the smaller/quicker DLinemen more than it does the big/powerful ones. There has been a lot of holding against the Cowboys DL by both the Giants and Skins.

I like the gamer and calmness that DAK plays with. Reminds me a lot of Roger Staubach. Not the same runner that Roger the Dodger was, but both good runners, efficient passers, leaders and Winners.....

Excellent analysis.

Dak was very good.

Zeke will be fine - better he learns now. Don't bury the kid.

Claiborne is playing like a first round pick.

We just have to hold the fort down until Romo returns but no doubt Dak gives us a bright future.
I don't think the season hinges on Romo as it does on DL. Dak is playing pretty well. Key is DL keeping opposing OL off our LBs and generating pass rush.

Exactly, I posted that last week - it took Romo two seasons as a starter after two years as a backup to learn how to throw the ball away and force it. Dak does it automatically. Dak has that presence to slide in the pocket and buy just enough time - and he has it as a rookie. There are so many little things, like escaping ankle tackles, that Dak does effortlessly and other QBs take three years as a starter to learn.

The officiating seemed really bad today. I remember on one nice run the Skins had, they showed the angle behind the offense and you could clearly see the OL holding our guy by the collar of his shoulder pads, right in front, as the RB ran through the hole a foot away. But you could only see it briefly because the view was then blocked by the official who was between the camera and infraction. The guy was 3 yards away and looking directly at it, no flag. Even if he was looking at the runner he'd have to see it, the runner went right by the hold. The hold created the hole. How does he not see that? Unless he simply chose not to see it.

Yup but you have to admit those penalties helped a bunch with getting down there in the first place
