EE- he played well being his first game and they keyed on him. Morris ran better but our coaches decided to stop doing what works to avoid the victory

Dak- Is the next franchise QB, we can win with him

DL- sucks, sucks, sucks, it's laughable how bad they suck

Twill- invisible without Romo, only makes an appearance to make a bad play

Secondary- We're not getting what we pay for. Carr and Mo are the equivalent to the DL but in CB form. They're just jokes at this point. safeties played decent.

LBers- worthless, they round up the front 7 just fine to make the defense below average

Receivers- dropped the ball, literally and metaphorically. This season I personally may have to come to grips that Romo might be done cuz of injuries and Dez is fading fast. Witten catches everything thrown to him but coaches decided to try and turn him into a speedster today. Didn't work so we kept doing it to make sure it won't work. Don't be surprised to see that be a staple of Garret's offense now that we know it won't work.

Alfred Morris- ran the ball well in his limited time and kept drives alive. Unfortunately Garret saw this and made the adjustment to take Morris out of the game ASAP and continued to pound the ball with EE and his 2.0 yards per carry. Don't be surprised to see Morris completely wiped from Garret's playbook and possibly cut tomorrow because of his production.

Coaches- see Alfred Morris and receivers.

What was wrong with Mo today? I'll yake a 5-yard penalty against Beckham every time.

They also need to learn how important it is to have timeouts at the end of a game!

Every kicker in the league has surely made 60+ yarders in practice. The kicker at my high school made a 73 yarder at practice. It's much different when there is a rush though.
So it's better not to even give him a shot.....yea that makes sense cause without the chance of kicking it we can say no way he would make it.

Saints tried it today with a rookie kicker and almost made it. Bailey is cool and calm in the clutch and I have more faith he makes it then not. Give him the chance, the worst that can happen is what happen

You are just covering for Williams.

There were no "great" options. But lining Bailey up for a 60 yard FG is a better option than a WR trying to get 3 extra yards with only 12 seconds left on the clock when the play started and no timeouts.

You must be a big Williams fan. That's the only thing I can come up with as to how someone could defend what he did there.
There are other Twill threads for the pitchforks crowd

The fact remains if Williams would have gotten out if bounds, we had a chance. That 56 yarder Bailey kicked earlier had room to be 60+

No, I think Bailey has it in him, and Williams was stupid, but the 56 yarder in the game gives me 1,000 times more confidence than a 65 yarder in practice would.

Not when you have no time left to kick. I much rather let Bailey kick a 60 plus then have no time left.

Can't believe people are questioning Bailey. Not saying he would make it but give him a chance to kick

Exactly given the best kicker in the game a chance is all we wanted lol. Unbelievable how many dumb players we have

Yeah on that play, I was cool with it because he got beat and he held him so he wouldn't score. I agree with you, I'll take a 5 yard holding penalty any day over a TD.

It sucks but its just one game. This team looked to be something like 9 – 7 anyway so there are plenty of opportunities for these things to even out.

On the loss, give the Giants credit for a smart game plan and executing it well. They took away Dez and the running game (thought I thought Zeke would still do much better against a stacked D) and make a rookie QB beat them – which is very nearly did. Dallas wins this game if they convert one of the first three field goals into a TD, and that is something that will come when timing and execution improve.

Dallas also wins the game if Twill gets out of bounds. There is no excuse for that play, none, zero. Even if he puts up a good season statistically, that is the kind of play that could cause Dallas to let him leave in FA.

The big obvious plus is Dak Prescott. He looked like he was born to play this game, most rookies in their first game are completely lost no matter how much talent they have. Romo’s first game was three years into his career and he still make plenty of mistakes. Eli Manning’s first start as a rookie looked like a drunk giraffe playing hopscotch. Tom Brady only had three passing attempts as a true rookie.

A good example is that even as a true rookie, Dak knows when to throw the ball away. It took Romo two years (as a starter) to learn to do that and not try to force the ball attempting a big play.

He would also stay calm with the pocket breaking down, a lot of young QBs will spring outside or start running, while Dak just sidesteps a few feet so the receivers don’t break off their routes. It’s a small thing, but a big one. For a rookie, its really something. Also I think Dak only had one bad throw all day, about the same number 13 year pro Eli Manning had.

This defense isn’t good, but its good enough. The season will look just like this (and like 2014), the offense controls the game and the defense plays containment.

McClain looked good and the safeties were quiet – which is a huge improvement over Wilcox getting burned once a quarter.

The DLine is the obvious concern, missing DLaw takes out our best pass rusher and Tapper is needed for rotation depth so we don’t have Wilbur taking DE snaps like a fish out of water. Jack Crawford is an above average backup 3T but a below average LDE, but he is the only one we have at the moment. David Irving is obviously hurt worse than they let on, he only played a few series.

Overall, this is a team that still needs to gell and one that desperately needs its DL to be healthy and/or reinstated. But its still a playoff caliber team.

Their OL beat our DL -- that wasn't too surprising, but we thought the other side would dominate.

But their DL beat our OL also. That's what makes the future look a bit unsure. They pass protected well, but the run game was stymied.

The team should be embarrassed that they couldn't elevate their play above that of their rookie QB.

T-Will obviously isn't smart enough to play at this level, and he still tries to body catch. He's probably now going to be highly motivated, but I don't think he can grow a brain. Also, he and the other receivers should have defeated coverage often, since Dez was doubled all day.

The OL will be better against some fronts, and I trust they can elevate their play. Dak will improve, too. But we should have been able to defeat the Gnats' game plan.

I guess we should be thrilled to start 2-2; a more realistic goal might be 1-3.

The knock on Zeke coming out was that he was a rb from OSU. RBs from OSU and Wis, struggle in the NFL because in college they are used to huge holes to run threw. It was evident today, he had no patience, where as Morris did.

Dez is really disappointing. How can he be taken out of game after game? The top WR make plays regardless in every game. He makes a play and disappears.

EE- fine, no blocking at all
Dak- has IT, is a star
DL- atrocious
TWill- disagree, we needed yards too

if he goes out of it would have been at the 40, which would have made it a 56 or 57 yard FG.

Liking this thread, especially for the 'kaiser roll' in the title.

The defense (2.22 points allowed per drive) wasn't as good as 2014 (1.89) or 2015 (1.99). Needed to hold them to a FG on one of those red zone possessions.

The good news is that if the defense had played up to its form of the last two seasons, Dak was good enough to win, even with two dropped TD.

Yes, the only conclusion is that the defense didn't play nearly "good enough"

Unless JG changes and takes some risks, we are going to lose many close games. We are not good enough to play "not to lose".

That's a great way to put it. You watch a rookie like Jameis Winston play and you see the physical skills. You see Dak play and you see he was born to play the position.
