Everytime a talented player gets put on the trading block, the logic I see from people being begging for a trade is:

"You get a guaranteed stud for an unproven draft pick(s)"

But they don't consider how valuable that rookie contract is. Cheap, young talent are usually found in abundance on great teams. By having young talent making peanuts, that allows you to give out boatloads of cash to free agents WITHOUT having to give up picks.

Trading multiple picks for a stud sounds fine and all, but you also have to consider the huge contract you have to give out.

I do think Berry is a game changer though. KC was really good at shutting down TE's last season, and Berry was a big reason why. He made Witten invisible.

The thing is, Kansas City isn't going to re-sign him, most likely. Why give away a draft pick when you can possibly get him in 12 months in free agency?

This might come down to compensation. Do they get more in a trade or comp pick?

If there is no trade, and he has another good year, it is going to be a hard sell to the fan base that they would be better off letting him walk.
