What self respecting hc would coach in Dallas?
This is the key. I hope he fires everyone and then can't get people to even interview.

With the pay & prestige of college football rising, I would rather take my chances running my own show at that level than be the designated dummy for GM & Coach Jones.

I can’t believe I’m actually saying this but I feel sorry for Mike McCarthy. This is the most putrid team we’ve seen since the Campo years and those teams overachieved winning 5 games.

I’m not defending McCarthy’s coaching. It hasn’t been good to say the least. But let’s be honest - Big Mac was actually handed a one legged roster with one arm tied behind his back by this 82 year old arrogant fool in charge of this mess. This team is awful.

Honestly, 31 other owners would have fired McCarthy after that packers loss last January. That’s what should have happened. Now Jerry lets McCarthy twist in the wind weekly with this historically bad roster. If Jerry Jones had one ounce of mercy in his soul, he would release McCarthy tomorrow.

It’s the humane thing to do.
It doesn't matter if McCarthy gets fired it's a Jerry problem so nothing will ever change same same ol

Thats OK. Let him keep losing. Don't need an interim HC that gives them a temporary boost. Cost us a decade of mediocrity last time that happened. It would also cost us a top 10 pick.

Chan was fired for losing a playoff game.
Yes

The Cowboys were 6-10 in 1997, Switzer's last season.

In Gailey's first season in 1998 he brought them back to 10-6.

In his 2nd season in 1999, Daryl Johnston was out for the season after getting injured in game #1. Michael Irvin had his devastating injury and was out for season after game #4. It would be the last season for both Johnston and Irvin.

In game #10 they lost their excellent CB Kevin Smith and this would be his last season as well. They lost Larry Allen in the same game. Although he tried to come back in game #16, he was barely serviceable.

The Cowboys ended their season at 8-8 but still managed to make it to the playoffs and lost to the Vikings. Aikman threw three INT's in that game and next season would be his last.

Prior to Irvin's injury, the Cowboys were 3-0 and averaging 33 points a game. They would score more than 27 points once in the remaining 13 games.

That year five opponents scored 13 points and four of them won.

At the beginning of the season, 8 of the 11 offensive starters were 30 years or older.

After all this Jerry expected the 8-8 Cowboys to defeat the 10-6 Vikings. after the Cowboys lost, Gailey was fired and replaced by Dave Campo, the worse HC in Cowboys history.

Jerry Jones is solely responsible for this sh^t show! It's not the coaches or the players, this is all on Jerry Jones. When he purchased this team he was smartest owner to hire a brilliant football mind like Jimmy Johnson to handle the team, unfortunately, he got butt hurt when he didn't get the majority of the credit for the team's turnaround in the early 90's and he ran off the second-best HC that this organization has ever had and he's still paying for it today with his insanely poor football mind. Hell, the organizational lows that we're seeing today, hasn't been seen since the 1989 season.

I understand what you’re saying. But if we got an interim HC from this current staff, he will have no future with the team anyway. Unlike Garrett who was the last interim we had. Everyone knew he was the future. That won’t be the case now.

Chan Gailey was a spare. Jerry was right to fire him, and was wrong to even hire that JAG. Tell me how great his coaching career was after the Cowboys. I'll wait.

To be fair, the offense is broken.

huge mistake letting KMoore leave.
Agreed brother it's been broken for a while.
Dak needs a running game to be successful which means the offensive line and running back position need to be addressed properly.
Using high pics on more tight ends instead of getting a quality running back or offensive lineman was a mistake and contributed to the broken offense.

The lack of participation in free agency also contributed if you want to contend and you are that close everything cannot be garnered through the draft you must supplement with free agency to fill the holes

Yeah, firing him and promoting Dave Campo was a step in the right direction.

Gailey took over a team that was 6-10 under Switzer and got 10-6.

If he was so terrible then why did it take over two decades for another Cowboys HC to have back-to-back playoff seasons?

Campo couldn't do it. Parcells couldn't do it. Phillips couldn't do it. Garrett couldn't do it.

McCarthy has taken the Cowboys to three consecutive playoffs so obviously; he has to go. After all, he is going to have 1 consecutive losing season. Unacceptable!

In his 46 year career, Gailey was HC for four different NFL teams, three college teams and one World League team. Players coached by Gailey have become SB champions, HOFers, Head Coaches, and GM's.

Chan Gailey will never be confused for Tom Landry or Bill Belichick but he was far more than just a warm body.

Gailey's two years with the Cowboys coincided with the retirement of the majority of the players responsible for three SB's. In many cases their last seasons were spent on injured reserve, guys like Michael Irvin, Daryl Johnston, Kevin Smith. In his last season, 8 of the 11 offensive starters were over 30.

You should feel sorry for Mike. He is a good man and has had a good career. Dallas is toxic. Any coach will fail here as long as Jerry is around. Stephen too.
Yes. Jerruh is the executive model of a "coach killer". Coaches in Dallas usually have short shelf lives, except for Garrett.

Totally agree. But, to me, there’s a 50/50 chance JJ rehires him because of the “unfair” circumstances of this season.

Remember when he hired McCarthy? He said he hoped to have him for 30 years.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Maybe none of this is McCarthy’s fault, I personally don’t believe that. But it’s obvious he isn’t going to be back and the team is in downward spiral. The players have shown flashes that they haven’t given up. But they definitely aren’t playing for or defending their coach that I have seen. It’s past due for the break up, time to git. McCarthy does seem like a nice guy, I wish him the best.

I don't feel sorry for anyone that makes millions playing or coaching a sport. Like no feelings from me. I'd say how I feel about Jerry, but I'm not trying to get a bunch of "are you ok" messages in my inbox.

Who teaches Jerry a lesson due to the fact that Jerry knew as a general manager they had needs to fix areas on the team and Jerry say's "I'm all in" and then sits on his butt and does nothing but pass on Henry and brings in their old washed up running back from another team?

One calling call of Jerry is he rarely does the right thing...
Good points.................unfortunately Jerry is the owner of the team, so yeah, he is kinda untouchable.

In all honesty, Jerry has kind of taken the Cowboys to the level of the Colts, Browns, Jets and Giants, non of which EVER had the rich history of the Cowboys (like the eagles, even a blind squirrel will find a nut from time to time in wins with the teams mentioned except for the browns LOL).
