Davis has a place with the team because of his ST play. Pile is serviceable at best in coverage, which is better than Davis, but Davis is better in ST play. Have Davis backup Roy next year and get a real FS. If they can do that and stay healthy, the safety and special teams play will be better next season.

Oh yeah, I agree wholeheartdly...

I posted a while back that Davis was the only member of the secondary that hadnt made an impact play.

Roy has been causing fumbes and Ints all season.

We know what Newman, Glenn, and Henry brought to the table.

Im just trying to tell you guys, dont be surprised if Mr. Davis is back as your starting FS.

not only would i be surprised, id be shocked. Davis hasnt shown any cover ability. he can hit but so can a ton of guys. other than the occasional( once a year) big hit, he is worthless. He is always near the LOS instead of playing the deep man.

Plus if Bill had his way Davis would be a backup FS and special teams ace. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we make a move for a FS, or even if Beriult beats out Davis.

Bill didn't really want to start Davis in the first place because of his special teams play, and he hasn't done much that will likely change Bill's mind in that regard this year.

Well, that is pretty much an indictment on Zimmy Lives.

Dont forget, he doesnt have a ton of experience and that kind of has to be taken into consideration.

I really have to admit...Keith Davis isnt the Trainwreck at Free Safety now that I thought he would be all season.

He had a hell of a game against Panthers. He and Roy both were out of position on 2 separte TDs they scored.

Im telling you guys...these boys in the secondary are having massive problems understanding their assignments and what zone they are responsible in Zimmy's scheme. I put the blame on coach and player but eventually it is the coach that the buck gets passed too.

Not saying the guy is all-pro and that I even want him here...im just saying dont be too surprised.

Dont forget, he could have put Pile in over Davis every week and forced Davis to be a ST ace full time but he didnt.

That could say more about Pile than Davis.

I agree that they seem to have issues. I would love to see another d coord here with more creativity and a better 3-4 experience. But Davis is choosing on his own to mess up plays. There is no way in heck that Zimm or Parcells could possibly want BOTH Davis and Roy near the LOS so often. My guess is that Roy has the freedom, and Davis just does his own thing because he is way too concerned with making a "hit stick" tackle, or making the big play. Plus he is small. I would love to see us take one of like 20 safeties in the draft that would be an immediate upgrade.

True. I think we would have to take Landry or Huff in the first round to get a chance to take them. That would be a mistake because we need to go OT.

Im not sure Keith is doing his own thing..I just dont think players that are not very talented like Davis has the freedom to do that without massive reprecussions.

Im just saying he could be back...

I really think the is still learning and should get better next year.

Oh and I am with you 100% brotha on Zimmer, Zimmy really needs to go but I think he could really be the next HC.

I think he will start again next year as well as the future... he will get better... Im predicting he will be a pro bowl free safety 2-3 years or less from now...

Keith Davis plays with heart, he's an intimindator, he hits extremely hard, and I think keith davis and j. reeves is going to be talented players in the NFL...

I think they could be some key contributers in the playoffs if we so happen to make it...

Davis will be back next year, he has been improving all year.

Everytime I see people mention Beriult at FS I think of the movie "The Great White Hype". LOL

I like Davis but I think because of our LB problems he tries to cheats to help against the run too often.

Cure the LB issue first before anything else.

Hey, and not only that...

If you get more pressure on the QB, which Brunell and Delhomme both could have sat back there are made cookie for all the fans, you improve the secondary.

I thought Davis and Free Safety was an oxymoron but the guy has played okay.

roy was a great cover safety. At the end of the his career he had some injuries and he lost a little quickness but still better than roy at coverage by a long shot!

I like to see Beriault, Davis, and a drafted FS fight it out in training camp 2006.

I like what Davis has done the last couple of games (as if he's figuring it out) He broke up a critical play that would have been a 1st down, and help break up another deep ball, and was there when RW intercepted the ball.

Plus he's starting to come out of the back field to make plays . However, I also like what I saw out of Beriault the last part of pre-season. He has a knack for being around the ball, and his blitzing is superb. He's probably adding 10 pounds as we speak.

Draft a fs on the 2nd day, and let all 3 have at it in TC. I wouldn't pick up a FA, I personally don't think Davis is as bad as he was in the beginning of the year.

Keith Davis will never be a good NFL FS but he can be a very good backup to RW and great ST performer. Understand Parcells efforts to make this happen cause he just couldn't get all the defensive pieces together in one season and thought Davis might be able to make it at FS but he can't. Also despite attention Bieraut received for his play in TC, it's more of a SS then a FS although it possible he could learn to be adequate FS backup. FS is one of the positions which has to be filled with a quality coverage guy so RW can stay near the line where he max effective. If we can get a legit not too old good FS in FA, go for it; otherwise draft a FS, if one still available, in 5th round. I'd like to use first day 3 picks on offense, specifically OT/OG/WR or QB. Hope our new scouting department does better with offensive picks then what we did in 04. We can't make mistakes with OL picks this time. I think we need an OT and a OG; OT to play behind Adams or starting at RT. We need a quality OG cause Allen turns 35 in Nov & Riveria 34 in spring 06.

BTW: Does anybody know how to pull up profiles on both Gurode (02 draft) & Peterman (04) draft? Thanks.
