In no particular order:

Mahomes
Allen
Burrow
Rodgers
Jackson
Lawrence
Herbert
Hurts
Goff
Stafford

All those right now are better than Dak.

Then you have the likes of Dak, Tua, Fields, Geno Smith, Brady, Cousins, Tannehill, Carr, and Jones in a group behind the above list.

While some may disagree, the fact is Dak showed major regression this season and the younger QB's are showing improvement...and it's only going to be another few years when the new batch of QB's catch up to Dak.
And see this is why we cannot have nice things. I will give you Mahomes, Burrow, Lawrence, Hurts. But I got issues with some of the others. Rodgers had blah season while Jackson also was mid. Herbert and Allen both had years very similar to Dak literally, especially Allen who had just about the same INTs. Goff and Stafford, i won't even comment on it because if you are putting two people over a guy who headed one of the top 3 offenses in the league since he return, I must question what you saw.

It is perfectly ok to say that Dak had his issues this year and most surely had one too many turnovers. But if you will do that then you must be honest about his production and what he did for this team even in spite of that.

Then just go straight up:

Justin Herbert (49 games in 3 seasons) 1,316 of 1,966 66.9% Comp % 14,089 yards 7.2 ypa 94 td's (4.8% td %) 35 int's (1.8% int %) 96.2 qb rating 172 rushes 683 yards 8 td's 4 ypa 17 fumbles

Dak Prescott (49 games 2019-2022; 3-1/3 seasons) 1,210 of 1,808 66.9% Comp % 14,067 yards 7.78 ypa 99 td's (5.5% td %) 40 int's (2.2% int %) 98.7 qb rating 163 rushes 698 yards 8 td's 4.3 ypa 27 fumbles

So for all those that herald Dak as a top-tier QB, Herbert in only his 3 seasons has already become better than Dak statistically speaking and there is no doubt that Herbert's ceiling is much higher than Dak's as Dak has plateaued.

I've read many times on this very forum as it relates to Dak that stats don't matter and he's judged by wins/what he does in the playoffs.

Herbert on his rookie deal has not been able to get the Chargers even a single playoff win, and in fact, was at the helm of one of the biggest choke jobs in history. Something tells me that's not likely to change once they have to make him the highest-paid QB in the league.

Here's more facts: Herbert played nearly the whole year with a torn labrum. Had surgery on it last week. Also played a month with rib cartilage fracture.
Torn labrum in non throwing shoulder.

Dak missed 5 games this year with a broken hand on his throwing hand and had 2 less passing tds.

How can you say that at this juncture? I get it that there is a changing of the guard and competition is less at the current moment but there are backups I'd rather roll into battle with.
That just means you are being silly and not honest which carries no weight. Crunch whatever numbers you want but he was the guy ahead of a top 3 offense this year. A guy like this even with his INTs is not going to be lower than top 10 unless you are trolling literally.

Not sure why you are giving Lawrence but ok.

Ya Hurts had a better year this year statistically...still not better imo.

Like I said, lot of turnover at the position right now. Based solely on stats, ok. Top 10 QB to me is someone I have some confidence can win against any opponent. Dak is like 0 for his career against teams that were legit competition when there is something on the line. It's sad he isn't movable at this time, I'd really like to see what the interest in him would be.

My point was GMs screw up all the time lol. Kingsbury just got fired and he was the next McVey. I wish Moore the best. He seems like a good guy. I just don’t think he was a good fit for this personnel.

Before Bellicheck became Bellicheck he had to get fired. It’s just part of his journey.
Kingsbury was never called the "next McVay" by anyone. His poor record was repeatedly used against him and he was hired for one reason, Kyler Murray who he had a relationship with since he recruited him. In fact, Kingsbury was so green they had to hire all of his coaches because he didn't know any in the NFL.

However, you are correct, GM's do screw up all the time and some get fired for it. Not the Cowboys GM, he rewards himself.

I didn't read the whole thread, so pardon me if this has been answered. Here in Idaho, Kellen is in some commercials with LVE and Justin Herbert. I was wondering what the hometown connection was with Herbert because this company usually uses guys who played at Boise State, but could this be it? Has this move been in the works a while?

I suspect he'll look like a genius for the first half of the season and then get figured out.

If not... if Kellen actually succeeds in LA... I think I'll give up on this team for good.

And that is the thing. I bet you no one can tell what our identity even is. We seem to fly by the seat of our pants half the time and the other is just do what feels good. Do not get me wrong, we have a top offense in the league but, we need better.
Agreed, and it’s not about putting up more points or yards in the regular season. It’s about establishing an identity during the regular season so that in the playoffs, you can lean on that identity and confidently execute the little details needed to succeed against good teams and in close games.

He has a very talented QB, two 20 million per year receivers, and a strong TE and RB group. If the young guys on the OL develop and the receivers stay healthy, they should make the playoffs. Everyone else will be focused on Dak vs Herbert, but there will be no surprises there. Herbert is a top talent physically. What I want to see is how the Chargers execute the run game, the pass game, and how many crazy plays they run in short yardage, along with how well they execute the screens. We never seemed to execute the screens timing and blocking very well.

Good for him. JG also got his next job quickly after being kicked out of Dallas. Will KM end up like him or do better ? I guess we will find out next year.

You cant go career then do for the year. Those are two different things. He is 2-4 in the playoffs but year on year he has been at least consistent in being top 10-12 in the league. That said, as I said previously you dont get top 3 offense in the league and not be in the top 10 or at the very least close to the top 5. But the INTs were a big problem for him this year.
