Brady gets the ball out quickly for that very reason.
IN 1992 season Aikman practiced getting the ball out quickly, for same reason, and it worked fairly good for him.

Our coach thinks it is ok for Tony to hold the ball too long and take the hits.

I guess thats why Tony is touted as having one of the quickest releases in the NFL...you're a genius!

Any thoughts on the severity of late hits (that flags are rarely thrown afterwards) after Romo had gotten rid of the ball quickly?
Tony rarely gets rid of it quickly, and on the flags, they cowboys just need to complain about not getting flags if he is hit late.

the quickest release is referring to when he decides to throw, not how long he waits to throw. thanks for the compliment ! lol

Right...and he has to throw...when people are open.

If he throws when they arent, you'll be in here crying about interceptions.

Dont blame tony...blame the failed leader, carrot top.

lol I did !
Tony has always tried to buy time and then throw. he used to roll out, the spin move, and moving in pocket, which
sometimes leads to a big play or a catch, but can lead to him taking more hits too.

They all take hits, and some are late or low, and what brady does is try to minimize the opportunity to hit him legally.
If he gets the ball out quickly all the time, then less chance of them getting to hit him.
He still gets hit, even after throwing it.

I would think with good qb's a rarity now days, they would do something about the late hits, or hitting after ball is thrown.

I dont get what point your trying to make.
You said Romo rarely gets rid of the ball quickly. I provided a video showing him getting rid of the ball quickly (or quickly enough), getting hit late, and the ref didn't throw a flag. One might define my example as atypical but that observation would be irrelevant in my opinion because a foul is still a foul regardless of the circumstances.

I believe Romo was resting that day. Yay... he beat out Dak for the second string.

Boy, Romo better stay healthy.

Ok lol but that was one instance, and other qb's get hit late too.
A foul is a foul, but if the ref doesnt call it all they can do is complain to the league office.

One reason for that is the 3 step rule?, which allows defenders to hit the qb if they do it quick enough after he throws.
They shouldnt be allowed to hit after he throws.

LMAO!

Do you believe the defender hit Romo "quickly enough" in the video?
