Joseph was a poor selection in the second round.
I feel that's the obsession with him. If he was a 5th or 7th rounder we'd be happy. Someone else said it earlier that he didn't play too many college games and is talented but very raw. Completely agree. Inexperienced, raw, unintelligent, but talented players are best drafted in rounds 5-7. It's an expectation a 2nd round pick plays the first year and is a major contributor the second year. Ala, Sam Williams. He's playing, but not setting the world on fire, but he's contributing in a meaningful way from the jump. KJ has done very little on the field that couldn't have been had with a 5th-7th pick. Joseph, Vasher and Ball might develop into great starters for us. We're willing to be patient with Ball and Vasher cuz of their draft status. Joseph has more expectations due to his draft status. The fact that Joseph is being beat out by Bland shows the FO nailed the Bland pick and screwed up the KJ pick. It's not KJ'S fault Jerry over drafted him. I'm hoping he develops but I doubt he'll contribute much this year. Which makes the Bland pick that much more crucial in case Diggs or Brown goes down. So you win some and you lose some.

Some fans still have zero respect for him lol. He’s as good a CB2 as you’ll get around the league and will get paid as maybe more after this year.
He’s given up 26 receptions for 266 yards and 2 tds in 4 games. You are way overrating him. He’s ok. But he’s significantly worse than Diggs.

Bland is a slot corner and Joseph is outside corner

Brown and Diggs are in front of him . . . Isn't it a good thing that Brown has stepped up and elevated His play the lastly 2 years

We have depth which is a good thing

I am a big fan if QBs and CBS sitting and learning because once their confidence is shot many can't recover

I like the pace we are taking with him . . . Problem is once He starts playing,, next year or the following . . . He will be a free agent

True. That's one thing that does concern me is Brown leaves via FA and KJ explodes into a prime role and is up for a contract renewal after 1 season. But again that would be a good problem to have. My question is, is KJ developing slowly or has Brown stepped up his game? I think maybe both. I'm rooting for KJ cuz of the investment we made in him and football may give him structure to stay out of trouble. I was really hoping he would supplant Brown this season and be a major contributor. But hey if Brown is playing well let's not mess with a good thing. I will say our defense is kicking butt, literally and metaphorically, so let's go Cowboys and bring the pain!!! I don't care who plays as long as we win.

I thought this guy would play a lot more and take over Brown's spot, but damn I was wrong. He's been a major disappointment , he's played only 6 snaps on defense. I know it's early, but damn, this guy is earning that bust label real quick.
He can’t be a bust without getting the chance to play.he has the size and speed to be good. He’s not getting the chance to play.

I believe its Brown playing lights . . . I believe its his play that has allowed the Cowboys to keep scores down

As far as KJ . . I believe its a good thing that He lays low for a while . . .i think the storyline would have been completely different if He was starting early in the season

You know the talking heads would keep bringing up the event . . . Now that he is on the bench and out of the spot light . . . People are slowly forgetting about it

And I think that is good for his development

Judging by his effort on soecial teams. I am sure that He is grateful and there is no added oressure

Kelvin Joseph was the youngest player in his draft class and only played a handful of college games. He was never going to just step in and become the next Dieon Sanders. If he can build some maturity and stay out of trouble we may have ourselves a really good player in a couple of seasons.

they should have drafted OL.

There was talk that Joseph, when drafted, was more interested in establishing a rap career than a football career. Having not heard much about him is that still the case? Sad as between him and Trysten Hill seems Dallas missed on a couple of 2nd round picks. They could have grabbed CB Asante SAamuel Jr. a few picks after Joseph was selected but nothing can be done about that now.

Why, Brown is a very good corner. Actually borderline pro bowl player.

thats a good perspective but the problem is that the draft is for getting cheap productive players. If they’re nut productive until year 3-4 when they will need to be paid, it’s a problem and believe me he will want to be paid

You get the chance to prove yourself every day in practice, in preseason games and in the snaps you do get in the regular season. And yet the Cowboys (who unfortunately at times seem to prioritize contract and draft slot when doling out PT) are playing a rookie 5th rounder over him even though he is now in his second year. That is pretty telling IMO

My guess is some off-field issues, like work ethics or commitment affect his playing time. Hell, Diggs was 2nd round pick but started his rookie season.

Overcoming confidence issues is very difficult for sure.

Whether or not it was a good pick is debatable. But at least it wasn't catastrophic injury issues. He was drafted there for one main reason. He has all the physical tools to be a high level player. Whether he matures & grasps the mental side who knows. All the testing in the world won't give you that answer.
