A WWI corpse is better than Davis. I'm also wondering why Hamlin's sitting out there like a loaf of stale bread. Why hasn't been snapped up already? After all, we're not the only team with problems at safety.

I don't think how long a guy lasts in free agency really means much. Some guys sit for weeks on vacation without ever even contacting teams. Charles Woodson was pretty good and he waited around for a long time before signing with a team last season.

I'm all for signing him simply to increase the talent pool though am a bit uncertain as to why he's drawing so little interest (may validate the character issues) and he has seemed to regress since his inaugural two seasons.

Woodson did that because he wanted to get paid... his strategy actually worked.

Ill agree with you here and having Watkins is a good insurance policy in case something happens to Hamlin, but then again I dont want to see him signed to a humongous deal because simply I think Watkins has a higher ceiling as a FS.

I am suprised the Jags or Washington havent had him in for a visit yet. Both those teams' safeties reallly suck!

No, ****. But he will be asked to play it.

As much as I want Watkins to play and succeed, there is one thing holding him back, and that is coaching. He was in the ACC and has a year of experience and played slightly better than average and waay better than Killer did.

We need to rely more and blitzing and succeeding there and watch the numbers and Watkins true Deep zone coverage ability to be there.

We do not need 1-2nd talent, but a scheme that doesnt always put Roy in deep halves.

Hamlin, if signed will play opposite Roy and probably do ok, but I think letting Watkins start from the getgo forces him to learn on the fly and improve from there.

Another genius.... (sorry for the sarcasm) the round a player is picked does not mean he will be any less of a player who was picked in the 1st round.

my buddy from Seattle told me they think Hamlin is a punk. Take that for what its worth but he is a hardcore seachickens fan.

I live in Seattle and root for the Seahawks against everyone except Dallas. I watch every Seattle and Dallas game and Seattle's safeties are the only ones I see on a regular basis that is almost as bad as Dallas' in pass coverage.

That being said and Seattle let Hamlin go, aren't you a little suspicious? Hamlin is a questionable character guy who has had troubles in his past. On the field he is a hard hitter but not good in coverage. Is he better than Watkins will be in his second season? Maybe, but I certainly would be wary of paying this guy above average safety money.

His pairing with Roy Williams, would add a definite threat of pain payment for gains in the secondary. I would love watching the Giant's Schockey getting beheaded on successive plays...once by Hamlin and then by Roy Williams!

With the player in Dallas' breast pocket, and after resigning Marc Colombo, and signing Leonard Davis for the top dominating guard in the NFL....why not step up to the plate in the draft, and make a real 'franchise' move, with a trade all the way up to around 10-14 in the draft...and pick up one of the following players:

Leon Hall CB
Levi Brown OT
Jarvis Moss DE/LB
Patrick Willis MLB

One of these players could set a future aspect to an important group...
and either linebacker would have immediate and lasting affects on the defense....as to the rest of the draft-all other drafts will be at upgrading positional groups and providing special team's players....for the immediate season...

Hamlin was actually an above average coverage safety before his injury. Whether he can regain that form on not remains to be seen, but for some strange reason this meme got started that a safety can't possibly be a hard hitter and cover. Which is odd, because we watched Darren Woodson lay WR's out, play in the box when needed, and cover the nickel slot WR in man to man for a decade. I guess we've just grown accustomed to limited, one dimensional safeties recently.

I think you just killed your good post with the prospects you just listed.

Where is:

Marshawn Lynch
Alan Branch
Dwayne Bowe
Robert Meachem
Laron Landry
Darrelle Revis?

And a majority of those guys will be there when 22 rolls around.
With this draft being so heavy on DE's, CB's and WR's some teams that are looking at OLineman and LB's will be reaching for those positions and push those guys down to us.

Am I opposed to trading up, no, but only if it is a player we absolutely love and believe 100% that he will become a dominant player at his position.
