I hope the coaching staff and scouts watched this game. I've been saying it over and over "watch the Tech game", so I thought I'd go back and look at the Tech game. At 4:22 you can see him really get eaten up by not staying at home and seemingly not paying attention. But the whole game just wasn't Kenny's day. I watched as many Florida games as I could and found that Elam wasn't getting taken out of plays nearly as much as Kenny.

I think that tape is a little misleading. He's had some great games too. But, we're not drafting Vaccaro anyways, so the point is moot.

I've seen both sides of Kenny V. To be fair, my boy Elam had a so so game vs. Texas A&M. So one could argue that. But I see your point. I don't hate Kenny Vaccaro. I just think we've overrated him if we take him at #18.... You're probably right, though. Jerry Jones will do something none of us expected. We learned that last year and years prior... we'll have to wait and see, which is cool with me.

I mentioned this in my thread as well. Watch him vs. WV and he's a surefire 1st round pick, elite type player.

Watch him in this tape and he doesn't even look like a pro prospect. He doesn't look like he even cares

Bad bad game for Vaccaro. Tech always makes UT look like this. They really expose UT's entire defense. I have thought that it was a mistake to play him as the nickel corner.

I agree that Vacarro is garbage (have NO IDEA what people see in him, he rarely even plays the deep half so why do people think he'll be any good in our system?). However, Elam is also garbage. That diving at ankles crap to make tackles won't work in the NFL.

The problem with evaluating Vaccaro is that he basically didn't play FS at all for Texas. He's was a slot CB/in the box SS. I mean how many times did he line up more than 6 or 7 yards beyond the line of scrimmage in that video? He's truly a tough prospect to evaluate because the measurables all look great, but the tape is hard to evaluate because he constantly has his back turned in coverage which is more or less the opposite of what we would ask him to do. Im by no means an advocate of drafting him at 18, but I think he definitely has potential to be good NFL player.

Vaccaro has had more than one bad game in his college career. I'm not promoting Elam, either.

babbling on about elam or rambo is annoying because chances are neither are in the draft plans of the cowboys since neither have been brought in or spoken to in the combine or pro days.

I don't have a problem with fans getting attached to players. That's part of the fun. I prefer Shamarko Thomas later in the draft to either Vaccaro or Elam, myself, but that's mostly because I'd like to go DL/OT/WR early and think there are a lot of Ss who can help is in the middle rounds.

I'm guilty of pumping Rambo, especially earlier in the draft season, but starting a thread to bash a guy simply to tout another seems over the top.

Even more of a reason not to draft him . Not only is he an average player all around , he didnt even play the true position we covet so much . That should tell you all you need to know about drafting him .

Well, first of all, back side contain on that play is not Vaccaro's responsibility. In that scheme, the Safety is responsible for turning the back inside and not allowing him to get to the edge if the play is to you. If it's not, then your 1st responsibility is probably checking a back, WR, TE or QB on the boot. We don't know what his responsibility was on that play so it's hard to say it was on Vaccaro and he did make the tackle there. The responsibility on that play was the DE. He is supposed to check the backside reverse. That doesn't happen. The DE pursues down the line and never checks the backside reverse.

I'm sure that if you watch any player, your going to find plays where they look bad. I know for a fact, I can find those plays with Elam. Doesn't mean that Elam is a bad player but it also doesn't mean that he's a better prospect then Vaccaro right now.

I disagree with this. A lot of times you don't bring the player in and bring in others to throw other teams off in terms of what your plans are.
