Kevin Ogletree

Who cares about his 40 time? I'm eating my crow because after watching him he can really play.

Props to you for admitting that you're eating crow. I respect that. Everybody loves to bash and question, but few admit when they weren't right.

If we stay healthy this year, I think this team proves a lot of doubters wrong. I'm interested to see who steps forward and talks about how the crow tastes.

Well, his play has got me excited about seeing more. If he keeps doing what he did last nite then it'll be hard to keep him off the field. I do think the INT may have been on him not being in the right place but it could just have easily have been due to a bad throw from Romo.

Point is he's getting open against first team defenses and that is what I was waiting to see. I don't think he's as fast as Glenn or Austin or Stanback and I don't care as long as he produces. He's fast enough so far. He is quick and his route running is precise. His routes do remind me of Witten. And Romo likes him.

The offense looks very, very good.

I agree with one of the announcers. Now I agree Stanback is in trouble. Olgetree has to continue to produce. I think we'll see a lot more of Austin, Olgetree and Stanback in the last preseason game.

I think Romo pretty much said that the INT was on him and not Ogletree.

He does look awfully good. After years of liking UDFA WR in camp and then never seeing them do anything in a game, it is nice to finally see a guy really come through to the point of impressing with the starters out on the field. Doing it in the 4th quarter of a preseason game is exciting enough for a rookie WR... doing it in the first quarter with the starters is a whole different level.

He's a good one.

He looks great. He'll be the guy who finally gets Stanback off the roster.

There is absolutely no way the Cowboys cut Ogletree now. We have all been whining about where the speed threat is coming from, and out of nowhere a guy with real quickness (clocked) and even decent down field speed WITH proven route running ability (something even Roy Williams, and certainly Austin and Stanback don't look fabulous at doing). This guy is the 2nd speed guy we wanted to go with Austin. Plus, he seems to catch the ball.

How old is Ogletree? If he left with 1 year eligibility left, he must still be really young as well. Look at how far Hurd has come. Hurd was youngest guy on team for like 2 years I think. These guys can get stronger and run better routes, and sometimes even get a touch faster with the elite training at and 100% focus of the NFL level.

He looks more polished than Austin at times already, who while he has the size and long-distance speed, is inconsistent at times, has struggled with injuries, and doesn't seem to have real significant short-distance quickness, which is big for getting separation. Austin is in danger of being a 1-trick pony with only the long pass route being his bread and butter. He looked great in accelarating in the kick return once he was running 25 yards already, then his jets kicked in. Having another receiver that has that off the line quickness is huge, and Ogletree just might have that!

Romo obviously seems to like this kid too! That must speak volumes, because Romo in the past has been slower to adjust to new receivers at times (Roy Williams, etc).

I think they have a potential diamond in the rough with this guy, and a crisp quick route runner really complements the skill set of existing WR. Plus he looks decent on KR too!

I like him a lot. I think he's gonna be a good WR for us. The Stanback experiment is finally over.

Ogletree will see playing time because, if past performance is any indicator of future results, Hurd and Austin will miss time due to injuries.

If Ogletree is what he looks like he may be, Hurd or Austin will find their depth chart order changed if they miss time being injured.

Dallas might carry 6 receivers: This is how I see their ranking as of now (this is subject to change)

1. Crayton
2. Hurd
3. Williams
4. Austin
5. Ogletree
6. Stanback

Cowboys may keep 6 WRs. However, Stanback won't be one of them. Stanback is good as gone. The Cowboys would probably rather claim someone off of a practice squad or some team's cut than keep Stanback at this point. Stanback will be cut. It is just a matter of time.

I hope you're right. Maybe I'm giving up on him too soon, but I just want him gone.

Personally, I think they carry an extra linebacker or DB rather than 6 WR's.

OGT just does not want to admit that Stanback is all but out the door. Hurd has had less injury trouble then Austin and frankly right now looks better. Ogletree is producing in games which is something that neither Austin nor Stanback have done. I have looked around at Ogletree's measurements and frankly he looks just as fast as Austin and seems to have superior quickness. So now I would have the WRs this way"

ROY
CRAYTON
Hurd
Ogletree
Austin
Stanback

And the gap with the 3-5 guys is pretty narrow. Stanback really did himself a big bad one with that fumble last night. With all his injuries and frankly a slow transition to WR, the only thing that might keep him on the squad is Jerruh just not wanting to give up on this particular project.

I agree with most of your points, but Austin did okay last night. Didn't he have 3 receptions for 40+?

You have no idea what "OGT" wants, because you have such a hard time reading and comprehending posts. I don't know if Stanback will keep a roster spot or not. I think the odds are in his favor due to a lack of talent at the bottom of the roster.

But to say that we would keep 6 receivers and Stanback wouldn't be one of them is just complete stupidity.

And LOL @ you having Ogletree ahead of Austin at this point. Gotta love the knee-jerkers like yourself.

I love Ogletrees play so far and I'm very excited about his potential heading forward but this crap needs to really stop with our knee jerk fans. Austin is above Ogletree and more than likely will stay that way the whole season unless Austin just really stinks it up in the regular season. I would like to see O play some during the season but I'm not holding my breath to much on it. He came out of school early so I'm just thinking this as his senior year in college with the exception that he gets to practice against NFL quality players and get better and stronger with our program so I see the fruits coming forth maybe next season where he could possibly challenge for a starting spot

Austin had a pretty decent game last night definitely wasnt perfect on his part but it was descent none the less. Even though he wasnt catching much in the prior games he was getting seperation and getting open quit a bit if you go check the film for whatever reason he wasnt a first read and the ball just wasnt coming his way much. I'll worry once we get into the season and we start breaking out all our plays and routes for the WR and Miles still is doing anything. For the ppl saying he hasnt done anything yet thats incorrect albeit it small production he has shown enough to let us know theres something there with his potential definitely something Stanback couldnt do. Just because we got a new toy in Ogletree who I'm very excited about doesnt mean we need to crap on austin and rush O up the depth chart.

Last but not least why is Hurd getting criticized so much for supposedly being injury prone??? Its not right last year was the only year that he missed significant playing time due to injury and it was a freak injury that was out of his hands. He missed one game in 2006 and played every game in 2007 far cry from being injury prone

Looks like he should have a productive career.

Ogletree came out early but he did redshirt his freshman year.

:muttley:

Don't we get one of those threads each week in the preseason from the same poster?

It was good to see him get some action with the first team, against a good corner in Nate Clements. A lot of times guys look good in practice but it doesnt translate into production in games, that doesnt appear to be the case with him.
