if Stanback makes the team over Ogletree, we will know something is rotten in Cowboy land

He's not going to, so no need to worry about it.

Stanback was out there in scrubeenie time last night, while Ogletree was getting snaps as the #3 and sometimes even the #2 guy with the starters.

Love all these claims about knee jerk. Fact is that Ogletree has been more consistent then Austin has this year so far. So has Hurd. With his injuries almost at the level of Stanback, the team has to be thinking hard about Austin. I think that that is why right now its Austin and Stanback fighting for the #5 slot. With the Stanback fumble last night plus a decent performance by Austin its Stanback looking at the waiver wire.

How often do you visit?

Sam Hurd is more injury prone than Miles Austin and neither is in the same ballpark as Isaiah Stanback.

And to suggest Sky Miles has ever been in any danger of losing his spot on the roster this summer?

Get real.

Ogletree is approaching Amendola status.

Hopefully his career fares better than the great Amendolaz! Wonder if the same people pimping Amendola are now pimping Ogletree.

Can't remember that far back, to be honest... and I'm way to lazy to go searching.

amendola was a product of hard knocks, and never showed anything on the field to make up for being so small.. this kid is 6'2" big, faster times then even austin has, and has looked fantastic every chance he gets..

i doubt austin in any danger of losing his roster spot, like some have said, but austin is looking like a stanback lite.. all potential. and never makes the most out of his chances.. tree can run routes that have turns in it..lol.. so far miles hasn't shown us that. not to mention miles has inconsistent hands..

now im not saying wade and garrett have tree infront right now.. im just saying they should.. it didn't take new orleans a real long time to find out they found something in colston, why should we.. if tree keeps showing us stuff. lets keep giving him more time to show.

To compare Amendola and Obgletree is silly.

No comparison..

I really don't see how someone with those eye-popping numbers went undrafted, especially with such good hands.

I am afraid that even in the NFL teams can get trapped into "box score" scouting given the shear volume of players they have to look at.

I suppose that given the bad QB situation at his college and thus the lack of production one would have to be very close to the situation to correctly gauge his aptitude for the NFL.

not to mention he missed a whole season due to injury.

I wonder how many teams red-flagged Ogletree because of his knee.

Kevin Ogletree is listed as 6 feet tall on the team's official site.

I think he was listed as 6' 2" at UVA and "shrunk" when measured at the combine. That happens to lots of players as their school exaggerate on computer numbers.

Kevin Ogletree preps for the NFL Draft

Tuesday, March 3rd 2009

With little fanfare, Kevin Ogletree announced in early January that he was leaving the University of Virginia to enter the NFL Draft.

Despite finishing with 723 receiving yards - second in the ACC - in his first season back from a torn left ACL, the 6-2, 189-pounder was overshadowed by Texas Tech star Michael Crabtree, Florida speedster Percy Harvin and other more ballyhooed wideouts.

But things are changing. The former Holy Cross HS standout, the Daily News Player of the Year in 2004-05, says an NFL advisory board pegged him as a third- or fourth-round pick - and his stock could be rising. During the NFL Scouting Combine two weeks ago, Ogletree clocked a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, nearly as fast as Harvin (4.41), a likely first-rounder.

Not that Ogletree is ready to rest. Here, he talks about his Combine performance, and thinks ahead to his next big workout, Virginia's Pro Day on March 18:

"I showed I'm fast and I can get down the field at the Combine. I really did my thing. I think I helped myself out (at the Combine). I ran well. I was running clean routes. That's what they're looking for.

"But a lot of people don't realize that it's all part of a process. The draft is something scouts work on all year long. They have a pretty good idea of what they want before; the Combine just helps the opinion of what they already know.

"I've shown them stuff already, so now I'm in a new phase. I was training a lot for track stuff and the 40. Now, I'm working on running routes, catching balls, and lifting lots of weights.

"Even (with) that, I'm not worried too much. Teams know I have ability."

Just think, if he went to Texas Tech he would have been top ten. (and holding out)

Dallas might carry 6 receivers: This is how I see their ranking as of now (this is subject to change)

1. Crayton
2. Hurd
3. Williams
4. Austin
5. Ogletree
6. Stanback

Ogletree is gaining and it wouldn't suprise me to see him upstage Hurd or Austin (both talented receivers who have trouble staying on the field). Some receivers just never get over that hump and are always just a season away from being ready (ie see Hurd, Austin) and some guys just come in and trasition effortlessly from day one.....Ogletree certain gives you that sense he might be that guy.

There is zero reason to hold onto Stanback. He hasn't shown a single thing to give anyone the impression he can play.

He supposed "super speed" looks non-existent when he is returning kicks and he is only a WR in name.

He's going on his 3rd year now and can't even make things happen in the 4th quarter of a preseason game.

I feel bad for the guy because he got a raw deal with everyone expecting him to be some sort of world beater but him being cut helps the team out.

If he somehow makes it to the final roster, I'll be shocked.
