with all the FA hype, I completely forgot about Key.

I just cannot imagine him and TO getting along if TO does come here.

The next 48 hours will be very damn interesting.

I don't think that Key is going anywhere give him the Bonus and extend him this year to keep him. We will get T.O. and than we can really open the field. Every body talks about Terry Glenn being fragile well if he wasn't on the field every darn snap we could extend his season........... My Man Crayton is back and I like Copper with a little more seasoning Who knows? Now if we get lucky with a top notch receiver FA jump on him....................:starspin

Cowboys | Decision day for K. Johnson?
Mon, 13 Mar 2006 21:58:52 -0800
Todd Archer, of the Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Keyshawn Johnson's future with the team will be decided Tuesday, March 14. If Johnson is on the Cowboys' roster at 3 p.m., he will receive a $1 million bonus. The Cowboys must decide whether to give him the money or release him. Johnson, scheduled to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season, would like a one-year extension and a raise that pays him between $2 million and $3 million. The Cowboys could pay him the bonus and release him later, but that's unlikely.

Eagles | Team must make decision on Owens by Tuesday
Mon, 13 Mar 2006 18:09:56 -0800
Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Philadelphia Eagles must make a decision on WR Terrell Owens by Tuesday, March 14. Owens is due a $5 million roster bonus and it is unlikely a team will trade for him now.

I doubt we will have both TO and Key on the roster this season. DMN gives us until 3pm to cut him. There is no time listed for the TO cut. I wonder which will happen first!

Everybody says Dan Campbell wouldn't play with Terrell Owens.
They say Keyshawn Johnson won't play with Terrell Owens.

Do you see a pattern here?

T.O is starting to tear this team apart.....before he even gets here!!

Losing TWO guys for ONE doesn't cut it in my book.

Dan Campbell is a skilled blocking TE. Key WAS a difference maker in his younger years. TO IS a skilled and talented difference maker who strikes fear into the hearts of DCs and DBs. Bring TO in. Once we start making a serious run for the playoffs because of him (and other needed improvements), people will learn to get along. Parcells can tame TO. I believe he can.

This has been my firm belief ever since TO destroyed Philly. He will go to another team and totally dominate opposing defenses for the simple fact that he is a prideful little prick with more to prove now than ever before.

Parcells will tame TO's mouth. TO will dominate opposing defenses. And TO remaining in the NFC East will play total mind jobs on Philly. We will own Philly this year if TO signs with us.

As much as I hate TO, no one can deny that he is one of the best WRs to ever play the game. Sure he's a moron. So is Randy Moss. But the NFL doesn't pay people to be smart (clearly), they pay people to win. TO is such a person.

Keep Keyshawn... PERIOD!
That bonus is not much compared to what is being tossed around.

If it is our intention to get TO then go and do it.
No playing around. Get it done and be the headline for the week.

I honestly believe if we are going after TO and sign him that other swift signings will begin to take place.

Decision time on Keyshawn: Receiver Keyshawn Johnson's future in Dallas probably will be decided today at 3 p.m.

If Johnson is on the Cowboys' roster at 3 p.m., he will receive a $1 million bonus. So the Cowboys must decide whether to give him the money or release him.

The bonus alone probably won't make Johnson happy. Johnson, scheduled to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season, would like a one-year extension and a raise that pays him between $2 million and $3 million.

The Cowboys could pay him the bonus and release him later, but that's unlikely. The sides have not communicated in the last two weeks.

Staff writer Jean-Jacques Taylor contributed to this report.

Thoughts?

If the above quote is true, and JJ & Co. do plan to keep him, that's some seriously ballsy negotiating tactics, waiting until the last day to strike a deal.

Either the statement is not true, or Key is being released today.

The only other option is if they struck a deal more than 2 weeks ago ...

http://www.cowboysplus.com/topstorync/stories/031406cpearlycowlede.20628b8a.htmlTuesday should prove to be an intersting day for us. If Keyshawn is released, that'll pretty much telepath that we intend on signing TO, I would think. Keeping Keyshawn could signal just about anything -- the fact we're not interseted in TO; unsure if we'll land him, so we're keeping Key as insurance for the time being; or, possibly, the interest in having a trio of TO, Glenn and Key.

Thoughts?
Wow. Can Key and TO co-exist? Last year Key was miffed that Michael Irvin said he is not a #1 WR. Would he be willing to step aside? Their back and forth made air time. Of course, at one point weren't Key and TO spotted together in Vegas? I seem to recall that.

If we kept all three I would want to be a passing team. Use Witten as an H-back/TE and Julius in a mostly 1 back set. Glenn in the slot. Throw the ball until Drew's arm is practically falling off. It's the only way we'd keep those egos happy and I think teams wouldn't be able to blitz us as much either. That might keep Bledsoe upright.

I imagine they will give Key his bonus whether they keep him or not. I've never been a Key fan, but what he brings to the table cannot be under estimated. I don't believe there's a secondary anywhere who could cover all 3 of them plus Witten.

He deserves the million quite frankly. He has made some tough catches over the past couple of years. I hope he stays on.

Cowboys have very little choice but to Keep Keyshawn,
There is no FA WR on the market worth squat.

Both Glenn and keyshawn can produce when the stay healthy for 16 games, ALA last year. But how often have the both been healthy for the whole season,

Cowboys NEED WR help. If its TO then deal with it and move on, I for one would give a 3rd pick and try for J. Walker

Bottom line, they have to address the WR issue it is just as troubling as the OL

Considering what some other #3 wr are getting paid right now.. 2-3 million for Key would be a bargin. We have the cap, he's earned it, lets pay the man. If we sign TO too, that is just gravey.

All Key does is go get 70 balls a season. All Key does is move the chains. All Key does is what Parcells asks. Key is a tremendous BLOCKER as well for a WR, willing and enjoys it. Key is a team player.

High stakes poker today. Eagles can make their TO decision last second. Dallas short of being cheap *******s - should just pay Key his money. Its small $ and Key is already making below market pay.

I have no problem keeping him. I don't think he deserves more money though.

Will be a sad day in Cowboy nation if Key gets released so Owens can replace him.

I think he is one of the best possession WRs in the NFL.

He seems to have matured drastically over the time he has been in Dallas, doesnt have any off-field problems (that I know of), is extremely reasonable money-wise for his talent level, and seems to have become a generally likeable guy.

Ideally you have TO on the right, Glenn on the left, Key in the slot, Witten coming out in motion, Jones coming out of the backfield. Not too shabby. At some point the WRs will have to get younger, but with Parcells window of opportunity in Dallas being a small one, I dont doubt that a deal is as good as done.

Keyshawn doesn't scare ANYONE, I remember listening to Aaron Glenn teach the young corner from Houston, Dante Robinson ways to cover bigger receivers and this is his exact words: "just keep him infront of you, he can't run past you." You can't say the samething about T.O. because he'll run through you and right past you!!! Did anyone see him DESTROY Chump Bailey last year???
