I figured he'd sign there. This is the one UFA that I'd really rather have kept cause he's such a good Special Teams player.

yea, not a "front line loss" but we need to hope someone else steps up on special teams. maybe carpenter can do that and be a bates type player.

yea, i can dream. :)

That moves us up to 3 Compensatory picks in 2009.

Hey could someone explain this to me please. I'm out of the loop, I guess, on this cause I didn't know you could get anything for UFAs.

Unless he's changed his lifestyle, then I see his stock rising dramatically in the dead pools.

Good for him. He finally gets a chance to do his thing.

yep. at 29 he's in a great position to show how good, or bad, he is. : ) either way he wasn't going to start here so i hope he does well down there and maybe the shooting jokes will fade away. those have got to bug him after awhile.

Personally, I think he's been mischaracterized due to his unfortunate incidents. But, moving to South Florida won't make the jokes go away.

There is a complicated formula but all you really need to know is that you get compensatory draft picks if you don't sign new free agents and other teams sign yours.

The better those players perform, the better your picks. So cheer like crazy for JuJo and Jacques Reeves and all the rest.

This is one of the worst drafts for safeties in years, esp SS. Anyone care to guess on our plan to back up Roy? Courtney Brown, Watkins - I wouldn't think so.

Ken Hamlin.

Hamlin would play SS and Watkins would play FS.

hey, i was here to defend him after the 2nd shooting cause it didn't sound like he was actually out looking for trouble. never knew the whole background but it does sound like he did some hiding of the truth not because he was doing anything bad but because people judge first, think way after the fact.

wish the kid well down there. we'll miss him.

Obviously, Davis rejoins many of his former Dallas coaches, who are now assistants with the Dolphins, including head coach Tony Sparano, defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni, defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers and secondary coach Todd Bowles.

Davis is the 10th new player added to the Dolphins roster since free agency began on Feb. 29. They previously acquired Cowboys defensive tackle Jason Ferguson in a trade. Other former Cowboys who played for Parcells now on the Dolphins roster are: tight end Sean Ryan, cornerback Joey Thomas, center Trey Darilek, linebacker Junior Glymph and quarterback Matt Baker.

The Dolphins sure have been busy. Davis needed a place to compete for a starting role. Hopefully, he won't be missed, but my faith in Cowboys' ST Coach Bruce Read finding a suitable replacement on all of Davis' former units is shaky at best

there will be a lot of veteran 2nd tier FAs out there to choose from. draft one, bring in a couple for camp, let the best 2nd stringer show himself.

KD is like alot of folks I know. Got a little bit of knucklehead in him, even tho he pretty much stays out of trouble. And then if/when something happens, use bad judgment when they get in those "Oh ****" situations.

Like you, I wish him well. The Fins safety is just unstable enough to give him a chance to getting a spot. Now he's just gotta go out and prove it.

i would bet that the backup plan right now would be to move Hamlin to SS and bring in Watkins at FS...

but one guy i'm really watching in the draft or UDFA, moreso b/c of the name, is MB3's little brother...

if he is anything like the Barbarian he could be a heck of a special teams player and backup safety.
