Kiper: Top 5 Juniors and Seniors by Position

Wow, did Kiper not watch Zbikowski this year? He was toast with a capital T.

Terry Metcalf went to three Pro Bowls in his six NFL seasons. He was a part of Don Coryell's Cardiac Cardinals who won the NFC East in 1974 and 1975. The Cowboys had to face him twice a year, of course. He was a very good player.

The Cowboys could do much worse than drafting the next Terry Metcalf.

Id have to say the 2 best players in my opinion are Kenny Phillips and Darren McFadden.

It seems like a pretty decent draft for Olinemen. The closest thing w/ have to a stud olinemen we have is Adams and there's a pretty good chance he won't return after this season. So w/ the first pick (in the event McFadden's already gone by the time we draft) I hope we can trade down a couple of slots and pick up Ol and move up a few slots w/ our 2nd 1st to nab Slaton. I think Slaton can be a star just as we don't expect him to carry the ball 25 times.

You really want to start the JJ vs MBIII arguement all over again but with different backs. If the Cowboys draft a RB next year (and notice thats an IF) they go with a guy who can be in there everydown in the LT mode - McFadden.

Wasn't Kenny Phillips the punk that used his helmet as a weapon in the brawl with FIU?

no thanks on him.

That was Brandon Merriweather... Patriots 1st round pick.

Phillips is 3 times the player Merriweather is.

I think when its said and done Phillips will be one of the best safeties of all time.

Good to see you stay on top of this draft stuff:rolleyes:

Fullbacks
1. Peyton Hillis, Arkansas

I don't understand the love people have for this guy. Before last season started there were those around here that were saying he should be the starting RB. He's just never seemed that great to me, he's an above average receiver but that's about it. He reminds me of Woody Dantzler(sp) he's ok/good at a lot of things, but not great at any of them.

Running Backs
1. Darren McFadden, Arkansas
2. Steve Slaton, West Virginia
3. Jonathan Stewart, Oregon
4. Felix Stewart, Arkansas
5. Branden Ore, Virginia Tech

Who's Felix STEWART?

Note to Mel Kiper: Proof reading is your friend.

Per that link at 05 seconds in, Kenny Phillips, Number 26, uses his helmet as a weapon. Merriweather was the punk that stomped on people.

Ian Johnson isn't a top five player... But he is a damn great one and he is going to make a late round team VERY happy.

He may even fall into the second... but either way he is super talented.

Generally I like Kiper. Not so much because he's accurate, but simply because he's thought provoking during the down times.

But two things really strike me as funny.

1) him not listing Bowman on his WR list. (see http://www.bowman12.com and click on video for highlights from last year) While I think that Bowman needs a lot of work, he's a specimen. He's a long strider so he looks slower than he is, but you don't see him caught from behind.

2) Listing Brandon Pettigrew at both TE (his natural position) and OG. Huh? He's not even close to being an OL convert like Charlie Johnson who after playing three years at TE at Oklahoma State switched to OT and was drafted by the Colts. He played exceptionally well in the Super Bowl as a rookie coming off the bench.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get McFadden, but a lot will have to happen for that to become reality.

I would also like for JJ to have a monster season so we can look in another direction come draft time. He's got a ways to go for me not to want to draft Slaton, however.

As for the everydown back thing, I think the trend is shifting towards 2 deep at tailback. It makes sense. At the rate players are going down to injury these days, it's prudent not to have to rely on just one back. And yes, the Tomlisons and the Johnsons have been great, but if they miss significant time due to injury their teams are SCREWED (or most likely screwed).

I am officially on the James Hardy bandwagon. I see alot of Big 10 football living in Iowa, and this kid is phenomenal. 6'7 with great speed for his size, and talk about a leaper. He can go get any ball out of the air, regardless of how many defenders are around him.

Thank god for underclassmen because that senior class (outside of o-line and maybe CB) looks pretty weak.

The studs are McFadden, DeSean Jackson, Kenny Phillips, and the DE from Miami. Brohm will go high as well.

If Jerry Jones signs Terence Newman and Julius Jones during the season we will go into the draft with no glaring needs. Plus, we'll be coming off a Superbowl victory

I'm sorta interested in this kid too. Wasn't he considering coming out this past draft?

I thought I once read he had off the field issues. Know what that might be?
