Sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
21 million RIAA-certified albums.
30 Gold albums, the most of any band from the United States.
14 Platinum albums, three of which earned multi-Platinum.

So much for "a couple of good tunes" theory.
Over 100 million albums

Actually, Ace is very unique and cool, inspiring many. When Paul still had his voice he was one of the best singers. Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick were WAY above average players.

I agree but it's usually the knock with any criticism aimed at the band.

# 404 of Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Rock Songs of All Time

Kiss, ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’

1975
WRITER(S):GENE SIMMONS, PAUL STANLEY
Powered byPLAY THE FULL SONG
After the band’s 1974 album Hotter Than Hell sold poorly, Casablanca Records head Neil Bogart demanded that Kiss write a bigger, more anthemic hit. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley obliged with what Stanley called ”a song that could be the rallying cry for all of our fans.” The result was the ultimate Kiss rocker, closing every one of their concerts since 1976. “When I was writing it, naive or not, it was really about celebrating,” Stanley later said. “It wasn’t about getting high or getting stoned or anything like that.”

Great songs…

RocknRoll All Night
Flaming Youth
Detroit Rock City
Shout It Out Loud
Great Expectations
Love Gun
Strange Ways
Deuce
Black Diamond
She
Unholy
I Love It Loud
Rock Bottom
Nothing To Lose
I Stole Your Love
Almost Human
Psycho Circus
New York Groove
Parasite
100,000 Years
Shock Me
Rocket Ride

And there are others. Anyone that disagrees doesn’t know rocknroll!
I agree on every one of those songs. I would add:
Mr. Speed
All American Man
Larger Than Life
Lick It Up
Heaven's On Fire
Calling Dr Love
Come On And Love Me
Anything for My Baby
...
When I was in school, my friends and I loved Kiss for their music, and ONLY for their music. We were in Hawaii, and Kiss never toured to there, at least not when I was living there. When you listen to a Kiss record, there is no stage show, makeup, costumes, or pyrotechnics. But their music held up just fine without any of that.

That narrative is fostered by Rolling Stone Magazine. Rolling Stone is hardly credible. They run the RnR HOF. Kiss has a least 20 songs that belong. Naysayers can suck it.

Yes.. it was terrible. You could see why they're hanging it up. Paul couldn't sing at all. Even when he talked you couldn't really understand what he was saying. Then he did that thing where you point to a specific section of the crowd and they cheer, then another and so on. That went on way too long. Could've been good if they had a few guests come out or something, it just wasn't a great send off.

My favorite Kiss songs AREN’T well known…

Strange Ways
Rock Bottom
She
Within
100,000 Years
Black Diamond
Almost Human
Going Blind
All The Way
God Of Thunder
Spit
Fits Like A Glove
Young and Wasted
Deuce
Parasite
Nothing To Lose
Flaming Youth
Unholy
Mr. Blackwell
Rocket Ride

I see the following as cheesey CRAP:
Lick It Up
Crazy Nights
Heaven’s On Fire
Christine 16
Turn On The Night
I Was Made For Lovin’ You
Shandi

And I’m burnt out on:
Rock-n-Roll All Night
Shout It Out Loud
Strange Ways is Aces best solo imo. In addition to being a crazy, weird, and great solo, it is the soundtrack to the vibe of Ace Frehley.
