Your morals are not universal.

In fact, the most immoral thing you can do is force your morals down the throat of others.

I'm not forcing anything, I'm just not agreeing with you as you FORCE your ideals on me and that athletes should force their lifestyle on all of us by making their sex life public.

See? You agree with me and don't even realize it. :)

So is he a hero for being gay or is a criminal for engaging in domestic violence? I'm confused which way the media wants me to operate in this particular scenario.

We've read multiple stories about Demarcus Ware and his wife's struggles to have a baby. These stories make clear that Ware is heterosexual. Why is his sex life allowed to be public?

Oh yeah. Being gay isn't just about sex. Gay people have long term relationships that, aside from their matching parts, look a whole lot like man-woman relationship. So you should probably stop talking about how this is about sex lives.

No. He's a $#%#%$ for engaging in domestic violence.

He's brave for coming out as that is particularly rare among athletes. Every former athlete that does so makes for an environment where we can get to a "so what? he's my teammate" mentality for guys currently in the league (and I expect there are far more gay players than you could imagine).

I've never heard anything about that, and unfortunate as that is, I have zero interest in it whatsoever.

So again, what does this have to do with football? Nothing.

Well, coming out after you beat up your man and it's already pretty much out in public, doesn't really qualify as brave I would think. Beating up somebody, who in all likelihood, is much weaker than you really isn't brave.

I think our standards of brave have taken a dramatic turn for the worse, which probably reflects poorly on what we consider good and bad, sacrifice and honor.

Given that there are only a handful of former gay NFL players, it really is important to have guys out who others know about. That's an important step. Harris could simply have faded away and never talked about this

So because you didn't read a widely reported on story, it is irrelevant to your claim about keeping sex lives private?

No, I didn't know about it because I'm not invested in any athlete's personal life. So yes, your sex life should be private. I have no business discussing my sex life or marriage to my colleagues as work. Why is this any different? Because they're famous? Because doing so serves a political agenda?

Do you walk down the street holding hand with your wife?

Do you ever show her affection in public?

If so, you are making it clear that you are heterosexual and involved in a heterosexual relationship with a woman. Your actions make clear your sexual orientation.

But it is funny that you keep equating homosexuality with sex. Is that all your marriage is about?

You fail to deal with the point.

It was already known that he was gay, after his face was shown all over the media for beating up his gay lover. How is he brave for coming out, when it was already known he was gay from his wildly embarassing incident...

Let's cut the 'brave' crap...

Big difference between something coming out in court documents and someone speaking openly about it. He's putting himself in the public eye as a gay former NFL player INTENTIONALLY. Like I noted before, he could simply avoid the attention.

It is a huge part. And further, certain societal norms are actually, in their origins, dictated by certain biological constructs. That is why scientists describe life in terms of reproduction. Genes are passed on, how?

Shoving it in the face, down the throat.

Reading a ton of that in this thread.

It is interesting the terms people use.

You do not have to be heterosexual to reproduce. Nor do you even need to engage in sexual activity.

It's simple logic.

He can't avoid the attention, because the attention is already there. The court documents don't come in an isolated vacuum, they come when the public already knows why he's going to court in the first place. Of course he's doing it intentionally, but intentionally doesn't negate he can be trying to divert attention from the fact he beats up his lover. Of course he's doing it intentionally, but intentionally doesn't negate the fact he may be trying to do it to lessen the situation he may face when in court.

I'm just wondering why he suddenly becomes brave...
