Anybody have a link to his stats last year? I tried to find them on a few different sites, including NFL.com and can't find anything pertaining to sacks allowed, pancakes and/or key run blocks.

It will not show the Madden stats like you want, but that's about as fancy as it gets in terms of statistics for offensive linemen.

5 penalties - 2 false start and 3 holding. Credited with 5 sacks allowed.

Those stats however don't really tell you much except that he doesn't take too many penalties.

He's a good but not great guard. Pretty much middle of the pack for starters in the league. He plays pretty smart and doesn't make stupid mistakes.

For what he's getting paid, he was a good player for us last year.

Its a little hard to get accurate stats on sacks given up by interior line men. You have to know what play was called, what their responsibilities were on that particular play. If its a guard- was he supposed to get help from the center or not; was there a stunt on, etc. With tackles its easier since since its pretty easy to see when they get beat.

Thanks Alexander, great link. I like our starting lineup on Oline a lot this year. Especially with Big Daddy Leonard Davis inside at Guard.

He's a backup type being paid starter money.

He isn't alone on this football team.

We have more than a few who we have overpaid for and got less than desireable results.

He is actually on the good side in that he hasn't been worse than advertised and has been quite acceptable.

If we can justify paying Keith Davis three million over two years, we can justify paying Kosier three a year for five.

Actually, he's more like a starter type being paid backup type money.

I believe he was the #1 rated Free Agent guard the offseason we acquired him.

Welcome to free agency.

I'll bet there are 31 other teams with the same problem.

LA gave up more sacks in only 11 games. Sounds like we did ok there.

And that is why we had to overpay in some eyes. We got off fairly well though when you see what we paid out for a nonstarter in Davis.

That's the price you pay in free agency.

I don't have any complaints about his play. None at all. If you get solid play that goes largely unnoticed as he did last year, then you probably did pretty well.

Steinbach gave up 3.5 sacks and fewer yds on penalties. BUT not a great difference. Hutchinson gave up 4 sacks and had no penalties called on him (that sounds suspicious). Vince Manuwai gave up 4 sacks and almost as many penalties. Faneca gave up more sacks. So by those measures Kosier is a steal.

Found this on Kosiers' eharmony.com account

6 feet tall

180 lbs

Loves to fish and cook; full, thick head of hair. used to model watches. Likes long walks on the beach....

Seriously though, Kosier is a nice guard for the athletic stuff like pulling, which is overrated for a guard to have as an attribute IMHO, but he is too weak. A team like Carolina could get more out of him than we can I think, because of the offense we run.

Alexander, I agree with all of your above postings; you are spot on about all of them.

Kosier is a very solid guy. He is better then LA is now and a whole lot cheaper. Good deal for us.

If Larry Allen was younger I would still want him here; this line is HUGE, it seems built like it wants to pound the ball inside, and who better to do that with a player of LA's strength?

LA gave up just as many sacks as Kosier did but played in 5 less games. He cannot move anymore. Kosier can. Its a plus for us over LA.

Anybody that wouldn't want the young LA back is a complete idiot and should be banned frome ever posting on any FOOTBALL forum.

Kosier clearly isn't in that class.

Does he get paid a bit on the high side? Sure. Right now he does. But that is the case for any player that signs a long-term deal. That 3 mill doesn't look as huge for 2007 as it did last year. By the 3rd or 4th year of his contract, he's going to be making less than most starting OL in the league.
