La Canfora says reports of Shanahan to Washington

I bet Portis is thrilled by all this. Maybe Shanny will trade him to Denver for Champ Bailey.
We'd somehow manage to give up another second round pick in the process.

On the Brian Kenny show on ESPN radio, Chris Mortensen was reporting that Shanny would go to the Commanders after the season concluded. Brian Kenny asked him how sure are you about this and his replied was how much money do you and I have? Kenny than asked are you sure and Mort replied you can book it. Mort has been wrong before but he appeared very sure about this and said that Snyder and Shanny are very close friends. Just FYI.

i like shanny for a familiarity reason, but in the end i'm in the camp where you go find the next talent, not hope previous talent can repeat it.

Very close friends? That is surprising. Snyder is a complete bafoon and a utter disgrace to the league.

How Shanny could stand 15 minutes let alone the length of time it takes to be very close w/ Snyder, does have me rethinking my opinion of Shanahan now.

I think I read somewhere that retread coaches are 0-11 in super bowl games with another team. It's hard to believe that a super bowl winning coach has never won a super bowl with another team or in a second tour with his original team.

God - I was hoping Shanny would get hired by the Eagles or Giants and make them losers! Just another STUPID move by Snyder. At least he is moving to the NFC East and can cement the cellar position for the foreseeable future.

Matt Mosley - NFC East Blog

Chris Mortensen believes that Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen will hire Mike Shanahan to be the Skins' next head coach. Mort's not ready to report that yet, but he said he was sharing that opinion "with great certainty."

He also thinks Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may have missed his window to have any chance at Shanahan.

"If things don't go well with the Cowboys, I think Jerry will have missed a great opportunity with Mike Shanahan," said Mortensen.

Mort would not rule out Bill Cowher for the Cowboys job and he thinks that Titans coach Jeff Fisher might be a "wild-card guy" in Jones' search for a replacement for Wade Phillips. Of course, Jones could decide to retain Phillips if the Cowboys are finally able to win a playoff game.

Yeah -- JLC is pulling that story from the "This has been rumored all year" category.

I have a feeling we have not heard the name of the next coach yet.

Just to narrow the field down some, I haven't been contacted yet... and if I am, I will decline...

Sorry to crush your hopes...

:D

Fisher has to get the boot in Tennessee first, I just don't see that happening.

The Titans would be absolutely stupid for letting him go.

Don't forget that the Titans' owner pretty much had to force Fisher to put Vince Young on the field... there may be some problems remaining from that, especially with how well that moved worked out for them... the owner might not have full confidence in his coach any more, or the coach might be pissed at the owner...

He also says that a wild card guy for us is Jeff Fisher. Interesting.

That would be an utter shock -- and a coup for the Cowboys (and make me very nervous...)

Thanks for the offer, but since we just fired Vinny, I think the Skins coaching standards are a little higher now :)

EDIT: Well, that and, we'll actually get qualified candidates that WANT to come here...

I'll be giddy if DeCosta is added to the mix

If he was added, I would have to go to the hospital, b/c it most definitely would be lasting for more than 4 hours

LOL! That's hilarious.

If Shanahan wants to work for Snyder, he's a idiot and I don't want him anywhere near my team.
