I feel bad for all of the guys that work as investigator for NFL teams. They're probably scrambling to figure out what is going on with this situation.

Without know the details, it's a 50-50 chance that he did it. Team investigators can probably improve those odds. The probability of getting a quality starter in the 5th round is probably way lower than 50-50. I'm would guess it's more like 10%.

I think you start thinking about it in the 3rd, because you potentially get an above average starter with Collins and it feels that you're not that likely to there. By round 5 I take him if he's there unless our investigator has found pictures of him holding a gun being fired at her.

above average? he is the best lineman in the draft imo.

There is a slight possibility that Dallas could have Gregory, Ray and Collins available at 27 and a very tough decision to make.

I cannot say that is exactly a great thing. A lot of risk.

From everything I've heard on this today, Collins was nowhere near the crime scene when it happened but the police won't be able to interview him until tomorrow (after Round 1). Extremely poor timing for him. Heard on SIRIUS Radio that his agent has petitioned the NFL to have his name withdrawn from this draft and to be reinstated into the Supplemental Draft, but the NFL will not do that. They also said that a number of teams had removed him completely from draft consideration (at least for Round 1, and some all together) because of the unknown risk. My guess is that some team is going to get a very good player on the cheap.

I disagree on that.

At some point the probability of a mid/late round pick failing is higher than the probability that he is guilty. If he is innocent, then he is completely innocent; whereas, aguy like Hernandez was known to have some general character issues.

It seems like all or nothing with Collins. If he didn't do it there are no other character issues with him as far as I know.

That's what they have to be sure of, if they can't I don't think you can take the chance

If I'm Jerry I'm working this hard because if this amounts to nothing and you can steal him at 27, wow. That line would be ridiculously good.

You would likely be able to steal him later than that.

It would be a real shame if he indeed is not involved in this - it would have cost him millions that he'll never get back.

OL appears to be in play early. But I'm curious who they would replace among the current starters?

Collins can play G or RT. If I had to guess, he would probably replace Leary initially, but I would replace Free.

yeah assuming he has nothing to do with this, it's terrible. Obviously the young lady was murdered, which is sad and tragic. But this could cost him millions AND what could be his child has lost their mother.

Yeah, it's one or the other extreme. He's either a murderer scumbag not fit for society or he's an incredibly unfortunate victim. To have this day stolen from him for something he didn't do would be tragic.

Rumors are he might go undrafted now. Wow. Regardless of the risks, I would be willing to at least spend a 5th on him. I can't see him going undrafted, but if he's there in the 7th I hope the team at least takes a flyer on him.
