La'el Collins update

we have to make Zack the highest paid guard in the league next year,i honestly dont think they can afford Collins. You really cannot tie up all your money on the Oline.

Check the cap over the next few years. We can. That's why we are avoiding given big contracts out. We have near 40 million and we will be able to push whatever we don't use. We are going to protect our investments (Zeke and Dak)

We can afford him until we have to pay Dak. Just like the Seahawks did with Russ. Paying a franchise QB 4th round rookie money gives us so much cap room for a while.

Not sure if I like.

I like the line up of
Smith / Collins / Frederick / Martin / Green or Bell

Better than
Smith / Cooper / Frederick / Martin / Collins

But what do I know. Let the coaches coach and do what's best!

Awesome!! Finally!!! But does this mean Green has a boo boo already?:(

Makes sense he'd make more money anyway when he leave and goes play tackle else where.

I think its the case of If Collins can step in and be just as good if not better then Free. While atbthe same time Cooper being just as good as Leary.

From what I hear the organization loves Cooper. If can in fact meet those expectations he may actually out perform Leary

Its obvious Collins is the most talented prospect we have out of Bell Green and Collins. If Cooper pans out I see it as win win.

Unless Green makes giant strides and actually outperforms Coopers performance I see Collins as our starting RT

Better late than never, though I would've liked to have seen this experiment last year with Leary heading into free agency. It was always my belief that Smith, Leary, Fredericks, Martin and Collins was the best starting 5 ever since he was drafted.

I'm betting he stays at guard. I know Green can play well when healthy.
I have no confidence in Cooper on the interior. Being a first rounder means nothing when you've underperformed and lost your job.

Right. We owe the guy for playing for a UDFA contract for three years.
We owe HIM?
He was undrafted and signed with us, which means we did HIM a favor, paying him more than anyone else offered. He owes us.

Good to know that Dallas is creating this option. If the team had practiced him only at left guard and just relied on Chaz Green to stay healthy and be the starting right tackle, that would have been a poor plan. With Collins practicing at right tackle, it gives Dallas the best chance of getting the best five OL on the field, whomever that ends up being.

Frankly, from watching Green last year when he was healthy, I think he would be a good starter if he could stay healthy. But there's no reason to think he can. For that matter, the same criticism applies to Cooper. So it might be more accurate to say the best five healthy OL on the field. That might end up being LT Smith, LG Bell, C Frederick, RG Martin, RT Collins.

They let Leary walk and they are going to put Collins at tackle? Brilliant.

Seems most of the reason for cooper's under performance was various injuries. I would remind you of another first rd pick that was written off by everyone except BP due to injuries- and his was really bad- Colombo

Collins was thought to have the physical talent to play RT but it was believed that it would be easier for him to excel at LG. Frankly if you can rack of the record he had playing Tackle in the SEC then claiming he cannot is moronic.

Green has shown he can play well at tackle. Unfortunately he has also shown he cannot be relied upon looking at his record in college and the NFL.
