If Cooper can't cut in sandwiched between Tyron and Beard he might as well turn in his application at the local supecenter

So he didn't workout for the Cardinals, Patriots, and Browns but he's the next coming here?

I don't think so and I was a huge fan of his coming out of NC.

That's just Jerry selling something.

It looks like they went out and got Bell for his OG experience to handicap Cooper, though.

I believe it's CBA rules that a 3 year player is restricted.

La'el's contract is up after this year but we will tender him. David Irving was a free agent as well but he had to sign a tender with us if he wanted to play.

Not that they are exact but all of the contract sites list Collins as a RFA after this season as wel. I believe Clarence is wrong but I could be wrong.

Meh, I said that for months but was told by everyone on here I knew nothing.

There was a lot of support here for keeping Ron Leary. Just like there wasn't really a groundswell against moving Collins (in the absence of Doug Free) as long as it happened over an offseason.

Where's this victim stuff all coming from here?

Patriots cut him because he was injured and they had to make a roster move to put Brady back on the 53. From my understanding the Browns cut him because they needed to activate Alvin Bailey who was under club control for beyond 2017, Cooper was not. For what it's worth he graded out on PFF as the #1 OG in the NFL for the 5 weeks he played in Cleveland

There are plenty of examples of players amounting to very little in several stops and then suddenly becoming productive. Looking at the three stops there were more than a couple of reasons things went the way they did. Now that is not saying Cooper does not have a lot of the responsibility himself for his failures. The point is that the potential is still there; there have been no indications that any of his injuries have had a permanent deficit to him physically. So in the end its all up to Cooper and his attitude and willingness to work hard and his discipline.

I'm going to trust that the people that get paid to make the decision on where to play Collins will do what's best.

Don't like how they are just handing left guard to Cooper.

There are a lot of options still on the table...to even include Martin bumping out to right tackle. Why mess with that although? Just put the 5 best linemen on the field...and there is good competition for just that.

I don't think you can write it in someone's contact that they are unrestricted after three years, since the CBA says otherwise

I agree with you. I don't think Clarence, Collins, or the Cowboys get to dictate when any player is or isn't a free agent. A player has the time in or he doesn't.

I'm skeptical on this. I would be surprised if the NFL would approve a deal that clearly circumvents the CBA.

I expect the reporter is confused - Collins is eligible to re-sign (hey Zoners, note how you spell that word and stop screwing it up) after two years as a UDFA rather than three for drafted players.

Dallas didn't OUTBID anybody. He would have gotten that same low amount of money wherever he signed. He put his trust in Jones and the Cowboys.

We do owe him.
Remember Jerry put in a lot of effort to not only sign him but publicize it; remember his press conference and bringing in Collin's mother? Guaranteeing his salary for all three years?
He all but said barring major injury Collins was going to be a Cowboy for a very long time.
So I really doubt that the Boys are going to just let him go as long as he shows he can do it on the field.
Leary was a special case; you never know when that knee will start to go. And he was limited as regards his pass blocking ability. Collins has much more natural physical ability. Same with Cooper. Leary worked his tail off to get where he got to. But he was pretty much at his maximum. A very good and borderline Pro Bowl guard mostly due to his run blocking ability. Cooper and Collins both have the physical gifts to be ALL PRO. So letting Leary go was logical especially as we at that time did not know how the whole Romo situation was going to end up. We had to make some decisions regarding the cap and Leary was going to command a fair amount of coin.

Seriously. The guys reporting on the team can't even learn the basics. I guess ESPN realize that when they purged people. Local reporters are even worse
