Every time someone bleats that we cannot pay big money to all 5 OL I say why not?

RIGHT NOW we are in that sweet spot where we are paying our QB peanuts. And our stud RB has 4 more years before being paid. For the next couple of years at least the cap will be going up quickly. NOW after that it is likely it will not; advertising revenue for the networks is going down and while there will not be a cut in the money going to the NFL it will not rise like it has been.

BUT the overriding point at this time is that we can indeed pay the OL money. And paying OL money is more value then any other position because history shows how long they last baring injury.
We have Tyron locked up. We have Fredrick locked up. Martin will be done probably this year if not next year. Probably this year sometime during the season. That leaves only two slots to go and NEITHER one of them will be that kind of money because there is no multi year history of playing at a Pro Bowl level.

we have plenty of cap dollars.
we can sign martin and collins.
we can sign a daddy.
we keep spending the current way, we will have trouble spending up the cap.

In 3 years we will need 20 million a year for Dak.

In 3 years, natural rise in the salary cap is probably $20 million+ on its own, plus add in the expiring contracts of Dez, Crawford, and Witten for an additional $33 million and any cap rollovers. There is plenty of cap room to make a long run if handled correctly.

ah............if handled correctly is the key. And dont forget we keep rolling current restructures into the future every year using up that increased cap every year just to get under the cap.

Who said it has to be in the contract? Jerry could have said "Sign with us and we won't tender you an offer after three years so you can be unrestricted."

That's possible but Collins should not be talking about it as side deals aren't legal in the cba

Well yeah, Collins can play T. Dunlap said he trained all year for his games against Collins.

I'd rather have him at Daks blindside, but if he can be an All Pro at RT, that's where you play him.

At this point, no one knows.

And we aren't going to lose Collins.

Its clear from what the Cowboys are doing that they feel that RT is more important in the overall scheme than LG. Which I agree with. If someone cant handle the RT position, then Collins HAS to play there.

La'el Collins Working At Right Tackle During Cowboys' Offseason Program
http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/2...right-tackle-during-cowboys-offseason-program

FRISCO, Texas – It has long been speculated about, but it now appears official that you can throw La’el Collins’ name into the right tackle conversation. Speaking to reporters on Sunday evening, Collins confirmed as much, acknowledging that Cowboys coach Jason Garrett and the Dallas coaching staff want him to work at the vacant right tackle spot.

“I’ve talked to Coach about it, and he just told me that going into it, that’s where he wants me to be,” Collins said. “He wants me to give it my all and we’ll see where it goes. So that’s what we’re going to do.”

Collins has been considered a candidate at right tackle from the time he signed with the Cowboys back in 2015. But with veteran starter Doug Free retiring earlier this spring, the speculation has grown considerably. Collins started two years at left tackle during his college career, making him a natural to return to the outside during this year’s offseason program...

I think this potential move means Green probably isn't healthy and may not ever be. Purely speculation on my part, but trying to read between the lines. Green has had back issues (man this whole team has had back issues). As Waldo keeps pointing out, some guys never get past back issues.

Luckily it also probably means they view Bell as a G more than a T. As they should.
