He officially ran a 4.54 at the combine. Draftscout has another time on him as 4.46 and whether it's an estimate or not 4.44 as his low. He reportedly ran a 4.50 at his proday. But regardless a 40 time only tells you what they run 40 yards in shorts. Some players are just faster on a field in pads and running farther than 40 yards. Some have build up speed. He got deep a lot at OK St. but in Pittsburgh Ben could no longer throw the ball deep.
Gallup isn’t a speedster but he runs good routes so speed isn’t the only way to get open deep

Okay slow down (pun intended) there big fella .. Nobody is faster in pads than they are in shorts.. But it's definitely true that the pads slow some guys down more than others. There is no real explanation for it, but its an absolute truism. Washington is probably one of those guys who doesn't get hit top speed as quickly as some others. forget those combine times.. Dude can run..

Hes not a good enough high point type guy to be a great deep threat. Doesnt have great hands or the ability to fight for the ball.

Deep threat guy: Washington
50/50 guy: Gallup
Route/possession guy: Lamb
Jack of all trades guy: Brown

Not ideal, but not terrible either

When you put Shultz in there its great.

Top 10 WR receiver in the NFL as your #1, Top 10 pass catching TE, Very good #2 level receiver, Jack of all trades blocking WR. Dont underestimate Browns ability to set the edge in the run game by blocking down on a DE or LB.

I do think we could add a speedster deep threat type guy. A burner.

I've been reading posts since preseason saying he's not a speedster. If true, how is he the deep threat? Maybe he's the guy who's gonna tell all of Jerry's secrets, and Lamb actually said "Deep Throat"?

I heard him describe yesterday as more quick than fast. Not sure where one ends and the other begins.

I think a lot of fans don’t realize the upside of James Washington.
5’11” 214 pounds Oklahoma State star
He’s only 26 years old and hasn’t maxed out his potential.
In only 4 seasons in Pittsburg where they had stars like Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith Schuster, and Chase Claypool, his average reception was 14.3 yards. His long each year was 47, 79, 50, and 42, and he scored 11 TDs.

Not bad for a #3 or #4 receiver. Yes, he has been a big play guy. He will get opportunities in Dallas that will build gradually. He will definitely get more respect from defenses than Noah Brown does. That makes more room for everyone else.

I think having three tight ends that are an option in the passing game affects who you need to have at WR.

Barring injury, this team is fine. Matter of execution when the time comes, and the ball bouncing the right way.

season total = 4 catches, 32 yards
If we extrapolate that out using a formula I invented, you’re typically off by a factor of ten, carry the one, and voila, this dude going to be Jerry Rice. Dude still has 7-10 in his sig. You thinking they’ll take some wins off? Can’t imagine the ignorance it would take to have gotten 7 wins with a glance at their schedule but leave it to you

I've heard it said, in the past, that James Washington is "sneaky fast."

That basically means he keeps building speed as he goes downfield.

Those are simply receivers who outdistance the CBs covering them!

Jerry Rice was known as a receiver who had a knack for that ability!

A 4.32 short shuttle and an 4.50-4.55 is not deep threat measurable numbers. Cooper had 4.31-4.42 speed and a 3.98 short shuttle and has gone over 200 yds receiving in multiple games.

Don't drink the Kool Aid.

Pretty sure that the last time there was a "James Washington" on the roster
Dallas won a Super Bowl.... lol/just sayin'.

He has talent. I know it's fun for some to crap all over everything on a message board
but, if he is healthy, people will be surprised at how much he can help the team,

speaking of deep throat, one of my favorite t-shirts is one that said “ I choked Linda Lovelace”

I may have seen it in a movie now that I think about it…..

EDIT… I looked it up and it was Joe Dirt. Classic phrase
