If you saw my posts heading into last season I hade plenty of spite for Dunbar, but the way he played before getting injured made me a believer. We need him on the roster.

Dunbar is being underrated on this board, he was elite in the pass game last year

I wouldn't go as far as elite, but he was definitely a weapon. RBs you can put in patterns like that and who can still be effective against DBs don't grow on trees. They put defenses in tough positions even when you're not throwing it to them. Roll in having a player like Dez on the other side and Beasley in the slot on third and short, where you can legitimately run or pass and have one of your top third down receivers virtually guaranteed single coverage, well, mocking the guy for 'not belonging on an NFL roster' just makes you look clueless.

I'm going by what I think the Jones will actually do. Listening to Stephen talk about the position relative to the rest of the roster and Jerry talk about rookie contracts I just don't see them taking a shot at a rookie as opposed to the reigning NFC POTY.

If you like the player and want to dream don't let me stop you.

I personally think he is inferior to Gurley and about on par with Gordon from last year and not worth 4. After a trade down sure but, I would rather take Henry in the second or Smith in the third. I think Smith is a better blocker than Elliott. Henry has the power that Elliott lacks.

I'm down for Henry in the second as well. And while I am a big Elliott fan, I'm not saying he should without a doubt be the pick at number 4. I'm just not opposed to it as nearly as many people are on here. I'd just hate to go into next season with McFadden + scrubs. One injury to McFadden (which is likely unfortunately) and we're screwed. And by the looks of it we may not even have Dunbar to fall back on. I wish we would just address the RB position and move on. People say it's one of the easiest positions to acquire but the truth is, with how short their shelf lives are, it's not that simple. I bet a year or two ago we though we were set for the next 5+ years with Murray and look what happened. I know we have many other needs and you can't go wrong with taking Bosa, Ramsey, Jack, or Elliott... but I really do think Elliott is the real deal and I'd just hate to see him go on to become a perennial pro bowler and one of the best backs in the game while we have Bosa who gets 7-8 sacks in his best year.

Lance is a beast as a 3rd down receiving option. Fast, quick and with very good hands for a RB.

If they pick him up give Reggie Bushy a look. Decent hands and probably a better health record.

Unless someone wants to pay Dunbar 3 million a year, I don't think we should let him go.

He's a playmaker and can certainly help us on offense. We need more speed on offense, not less.

Dunbar is actually a good player for the Chip offense. Not as quick as Sproles but very very good in the passing game.

I so agree Tyler Irvin in the 6th or 7th rd would be an upgrade eventually.

No he's not. He was hurt last year AGAIN. Just like he was the last time the team actually used him. And the time before that. And the time before that.

It's not about ABILITY with Dunbar, it's about AVAILABILITY.

Good riddance!

Not if they think Elliott can be the better player. And the reason they didn't pay DeMarco was because he was already 27 at the time with a history of being injured a lot. Right now, if I had the option of taking a 20 year old Elliott or a 27 year old Murray for the same price, I'm taking Elliott all day every day. Maybe that's what the front office is thinking. Doesn't seem too outlandish to me.

Sorry for going off-topic in this thread.

They also wouldn't give Lamar Miller $14MM guaranteed who is still very young and has shown he can productive in the NFL. But they'll gladly give $25MM guaranteed to a TB who has never played a down in the NFL?

Unless they trade down substantially, the way they view TBs and what they are worth contract wise tells you there's probably no chance they'd take Elliott anywhere in the Top 10.

You could take CJ Prosise in the 4th or 5th if he slides too who could fill the role of a pass catching RB considering he played WR for ND for two years.

Losing Dunbar, while a nice player, isn't something that I'll lose sleep over.

Dunbar's one skill of explosiveness is a question mark right now. What if he comes back and his knee prevents him from doing what he's done?

Restock through the draft. Scatback RB's can be had in the third day.
