Me handsome lads, let us take a short trip down memory lane with the non-talent Trey Lance.

It was actually this past week that the entitled child Lance learned he'd be a No. 3.
So what happened? Or at least this is the narrative put out in the feel-good report by Shanahan and GM John Lynch.

1. Lance was "devastated" when told he was tired strong talent
2. Lance was "classy."
3. Lance's demotion was a "gut punch," said GM Lynch. (In other words, Lance would be a pouty, unhappy camper in San Francisco.)
4. The classy Lance was distraught enough to miss Wednesday's practice. (What true professional does tha?!)
5. Apparently, the way to handle the fragile Lance is to baby him with honorifics such as "class" and having a "work ethic" as quoted by Lynch.

And Lance has said he wanted to land on a team where he, the golden child, could be the No. 2 backup.

Blimey, ruffians and astute lovers of the pig iron --- do we already have a backup QB controversy?
If not, Mr. North Dakota Bison, what is the diff of being No.3 in San Francisco to being No.3 in Frisco, Texas? Huh?

Yes, Lance is cheap. No, his talents are not NFL quality. Yes, he now has a fresh start. No, you don't just waltz In as a No. 2.

Class? Yes, Grier has class that Lance perhaps doesn't have.
Devastated? Yes, his taking up a roster spot is a gut punch to astute fans.

The project called Trey Lance is an unnecessary transaction in the name of getting something on the cheap.

I hardly expected Jerald to go to Goodwill for our roster needs.
The other 31 teams knew better.

So it would be better for a quarterback drafted by a team to be the face of the franchise to shrug off his demotion with a "I don't give a hoot" attitude? Then we would be talking about his lack of desire to improve.

It was clear Lance was no longer wanted in San Fran. That's why he demanded a trade. A fresh start is what he needed and to that end, yes, being 3rd string in Dallas IS a lot different. Because here he will be wanted and here he will be free of the unrealistic expectations heaped upon him given the ridiculous capital the 49ers gave up to draft him.

Lack of talent? That’s just a ridiculous and uninformed comment. He’s not ready to start in the NFL yet, though he won that job last season, but his talent is unquestionable.

Just watch film of Lance and you can see he’s got a long way to go. He’s stiff, long release time and questionable decision making. He needs a lot of work.

Yall are not looking at the big picture. Unless Dak gets us to the superbowl this year IMO he is gone at the end of the season....this move by Jerry just cemented that statement. You dont trade a 4th round pick for a back up QB

So for all of yall that has super high hopes for Trey good luck, I hope you are right.

Dak will play every game this year unless the team totally bombs or he gets hurt. That means Trey will get zero real game experience this season. Having so little experience as it is, both in College or the NFL he is going to be the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys for the start of the 2024 season without having played a full season since 2019 in college. He better get very good very quickly or we are right back to the year 2000 where we spend years trying to find our next starting QB....
