Last night, Babe Laufenberg, who is president of the Tony Romo fan club, said that Romo does not look good thus far.

Worse, he said he looks hurt, like he's compensating for his back. He reminded viewers that it was back issues that took Troy Aikman out of the game, not concussions. Back issues ended Jay Novacek's career prematurely, as well as Charles Haley. It is probably the worst thing a player can get because once you have it, it usually never goes away. Look what it did to Larry Bird.

Laufenberg said Romo's throws are all over the place, and for a QB that is known for accuracy and pocket mobility, this could be a problem.

Simply put, without Romo, the season would be over. Thisback issue has to resolve or it's church.

I wish the team would come out with the truth on Romo's surgery. It quite obviously wasn't just a cyst removal.

And playing him against the Dolphins would be stupid. In fact, they might consider holding him for the entire preseason, other than a quarter or two.

When did he say this?

Garrett said that Romo is doubtful to play in the 1st pre-season game.

Laufenberg is one of those guys that will sometimes say things just to get attention.

Not true at all. He's very close to Garrett and Romo, and he's the color analyst for the games and beloved in DFW for his honest, non-drama approach to the team.

According to most reports, he's looked sharp in camp. He played well in the scrimmage.

Sorry but not concerned with Romo. You guys can go into your panic mode if you choose. The procedure he had done is nothing like what Aikman was dealing with.

Only issue is that all the reports have been that Romo looks sharp.

Not saying Babe's concerns are unfounded, but he's standing on an island with this info right now.

Yes that is the odd part. I think after Day one it has been reported he has looked good.

There was a mention of him being rusty, but has since picked it up. Still, there's nothing reported about his back being a concern. *shrug*

"Throws are all over the place?" That's the first I heard of inaccuracy from Romo in this camp so far. What about those back shoulder fades we've been hearing about in paractice?

We'll find out soon enough. If Tanney is on the roster, then there may be some truth to it or concern.

Not sure if serious.

The local sports radio guys do whole segments on the ridiculous things that Laufenberg says on he radio broadcasts that he does with Brad Sham.

I know had the procedure been major Romo would still be out rehabbing. OTA he was able to throw on the side and while I have heard he was a bit rusty at the start of camp just as others have said he has looked sharp since. Not sure what Babe is seeing.

I would think JJ was well aware the nature of Romo's back condition and surgery before inking the new contract.
Agreed. I know JJ is foolish with money sometimes, but, if this is true, someone needs to do an intervention on him. This would be beyond the pail.
