Laufenberg concerned about Romo's back

It would be news to me if it is a disc.

My Dad had a cyst removed from his back....it left an open wound the size of a golf ball if not bigger that they couldn't close....it had to heal from the inside out. Took well over a month to do so.

I think there are people just throwing stuff out to see what sticks.

And Romo hasn't been stinking up camp by any reports I have seen.

My friend had the same surgery. It left a huge hole in his side that his wife had to pack with gauze each day. He said it took longer to heal than his broken rib.

Exactly...I was the one who went to my Dad's house every day to change the packing. It is not comfortable and until it is healed I can see it being an issue, however the fact remains there is little reporting saying that Romo is sucking it up.

Garrett said that Romo is doubtful to play in the 1st pre-season game.

Laufenberg is one of those guys that will sometimes say things just to get attention.

I've never really though of him as being like that.

That's the same thing being said by some here about ESPN concerning a few of their less than glowing comments on Romo. A few here seem to be under the impression that everything negative reported on the team or Romo is just to get attention. Has it ever occurred to some of you that what Laufenberg said may be true? My gosh even those close to the team are jabbed for giving their opinion.

Huh, all the reports so far have been about how great Romo has looked.

Only issue is that all the reports have been that Romo looks sharp.

Not saying Babe's concerns are unfounded, but he's standing on an island with this info right now.

This. All reports are saying Romo is moving extremely well and looking sharp as ever.

I don't really care what the procedure was. It could have been a hangnail removal, doesn't matter to me. If it's impacting his throws, it's a problem.

I haven't really followed the twitter feeds that much but if Laufenberg notices something isn't quite right I think it's a bit defensive on behalf of the fans to just write it off because the well loved media guys (they are loved around here aren't they?) like JJT, Mac Engel and others aren't noticing it. I'd like to see some comments from Broaddus and even Sturm to see what they think.

Bottom line, if he's favoring his back it's not good no matter what the problem was. After 8 weeks, having any sort of restriction just isn't good.

The timing doesn't make sense for it to be anything major. You don't wait until the end of May to have significant surgery. At the same time it was just a couple of weeks before his surgery when it came out that he was going to be cutting back on golf tournaments. So either it was a cyst or it was to fix something that happened after the season but likely before the draft.

If he has to favor his back, Dallas still has a shot. Comparing to other players who's backs were bad but didn't have the luxury of 15 to 20 years of advances in medicine doesn't really indicate one thing either way. If his back is bothering him, he'll play through it like has played through numerous other injuries. The only real question is whether or not it will impact his game and whether or not he could potentially suffer a bigger injury that puts him out for a while.

I don't think Babe would say something that would discredit all he has worked for.I believe Babe. In his first TC interview Romo himself even calls it an "injury" and then Garrett follows up in his PC and calls it an injury several times too. I don't think a cyst removal is labeled an injury...so something else is going on.
Could someone please post exactly what Babe actually said and a link to the story.......................

A cyst removal is an injury. It's not an ouchie thingy. Injuries can come in all kinds of forms, it does not have to be a broken bone or a lacerated spleen.

The big problem here is many think a cyst as being something minor when this one was not.

There are reports out there that the cyst that was removed from Romo's back was shaped like a tiny golf club. It was trapped under some of the skin area on Romo's back.

They said that he needed to take Jerry's advice. So he did. It was reported that Payton told him, "rub some dirt on it"!

So of the hundreds of media types both nationally, regionally and locally covering the Cowboys camp not one has said anything about Romo looking bad other than day 1. Along comes BL who says the same and you're going to believe him over the hundreds of others? Have you watched any of the practices? Does he look bad to you? Or are do you just get your opinions from those in the media who have the same agenda as you? You've already established yourself as being a Romo hater so it's obvious the answer. It's so boring to see the same people take their shots at Romo at every opportunity. Especially when it's based on what someone else has said and not on what you have observed.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about it. I don't believe he had a cyst removed. The recovery for that isn't so prolonged.

My God! Romo said it was a cyst. Garrett said it was a cyst. JJ said it was a cyst. So they're all lying. What a bunch of liars on the Cowboys.

Then stop worrying about it...

Don't worry, be happy.
